The next morning, Derek woke up earlier than his wife, he went downstairs and made a pot of coffee. Amelia, up as well, joined her brother in the kitchen. They looked at each other, "why didnt you call me, Amy?", Derek sternly asks his sister.
"she asked me not to. i knew she would tell you when you got back. She just needed some time to process.", Amelia adds.
"i would've been on the first flight back, you know that. you should have called me!", Derek says, raising his voice.
Addison, who had been listening from the top of the stairs, entered the kitchen. "i asked her not to call you. its my choice, no one else's. i didnt have to tell either of you, so just be grateful that i did at all. and not over the phone, i might add.", Addison yelled, storming back upstairs.
Derek followed his wife upstairs, asking her to open the door so they could talk. Addison complies. They talk through the situation, Addie explaining that Amelia was just trying to respect her wishes. Something Derek would want to do too had it been him in Amelia's position.
Addison changed the subject, doing whatever possible to stop the conversation before Derek asked any questions about the assault. She asked if he had done anything fun while away for his business trip. "of course not, i just thought about you the whole time", Derek says, smiling at his redheaded beauty of a wife.
Addison suddenly gets a feeling back that she hadnt felt in a while. She wanted to kiss Derek, even though she was still very nervous. They locked lips almost instantly, full of passion, for the short time it lasted.
Derek lay his wife down, caressing her body with his lips, until, "WAIT", Addison yells. "i cant do this. im sorry, i cant"
Derek understood. He felt bad, he knew she wasnt ready. she still pushed away from him when they slept in bed together.
Addison sobbed into her hands, feeling like she would never be normal again. "i looked at you and for just a split second... i thought you were him", she cried. "please dont be mad at me"
"never. i promise, you can take all the time you need. i love you so much, i love you", Derek said, hugging his wife. "its gonna be okay."
