I woke up to find German beside me and I almost fell off the bed.
It took me a moment to realise where I was and what had happened. I'd really panicked when I first awoke but in actual fact it was an innocent situation.
Last night I had pulled German upstairs and told him to sleep in his bed and not on the sofa. He insisted he wouldn't be able to sleep so I decided to talk him to sleep. It worked but it also meant I fell asleep where I was beside him.
Needless to say I was very relived when I recalled the event as I didn't particularly fancy a second child.
I pulled myself from the bed rather quickly and excused myself. I didn't particularly fancy staying for when German woke up as I didn't know what to expect.
I quickly got to my room and changed into my clothes. Yesterday was amazing but I only had ten days left in Buenos Aires with my family. Those are ten days I wish could be longer.
I know I could spend forever with them. I could move back here but I just don't know how German would react if he learnt he had a daughter. I figure that's an impossible situation with only very few happy endings, so I ignore it.
It still nags at me however as I go down for breakfast and collect some toast. Violetta is already at the breakfast table as she is getting ready for the studio.
"Morning!" she chimes, "Have you seen dad?"
"Yeah, he's in his bed. I told him he needed to get off the sofa." I say taking a bite.
"Good, he's going to hurt his back if he doesn't sleep properly again. Anyway, what plans do you have today?" says Violetta smiling.
"I'm going to visit the graveyard." I say as I pull my bag closer to me, "I wasn't here for my own mothers funeral. I should at least go see her grave."
Violetta nods yet she doesn't understand.
Valeria was two when my mother died. I was going to travel to see her in Buenos Aires as I knew she was ill but as I did, Valeria was sick.
She was admitted to hospital and although she only had a chest infection, because of how small and fragile she was, she could have died.
I stayed and nursed my daughter back to health as my mother slipped away. I've always felt terrible.
"Well I'm off Angie." says Violetta, "Call me if you need anything and oh.. there's a letter on the side for you."
"Bye Vilu." I say with a wave before walking over to the letter.
I picked it up and I noticed it had Marie's handwriting on the front. I gulped, but opened it regardless of anyone or anything.
Inside was a picture of a cat. It had been painted for me by Valeria. It was the one she promised me before I had left.
I held the picture in my hand and almost cried. I hugged the image to my chest and as I did, I noticed a message on the back.
'LoVE yOu MumMy :)'
When I saw her scribbly handwriting, I cried. I was completely sobbing as I heard footsteps on the stairs.
I quickly rammed the picture into my bag and threw the envelope away. No one could know.
German suddenly came into the kitchen and pulled me into his embrace.
I loved his touch but I knew it would come to an end because in ten more days I would return to my daughter.
I was certain about it.
