After following the tunnel for awhile, it started to get boring. Just as Heather was about to ask how much longer they had, she saw the soft glow of moonlight coming from up ahead. Once they had gotten closer to the exit, Heather could almost hear the soft breathing of the pack's leader above them. "Now listen up, this hole leads outside into the bushes beside the pack leader's cave." Wess explained. "Sharp and I will slip out past the bushes and into the pack leader's cave, while the rest of you will be waiting behind said bushes."
"Sounds like a good plan, but what next?" Coal whispered.
"That's the part where we ambush the pack. When they see their leader dead at the beginning of an invasion skirmish, they should prove to be much more welcoming. After all, most of the pack hates Maple, the new pack leader. They only fight for her because she is much stronger than them." Wess clarified.
Sharp immediately got a stunned look on his face, but hid it with one of curiosity before anyone could notice. Heather noticed easily though. She knew that Sharp was thinking about Maple when they were old Night Ninja pack mates. Although Heather had only met Maple that one time, she didn't like her at all. Funny, how they had to meet again this way.
Wess moved out of the hole, followed closely by Sharp, Heather, Coal, Breeze, and Taka. After everyone was situated in the bushes, Sharp went inside the dark, moss-covered cave, followed closely by Wess.
'I can't believe how different it smells in here now.' Sharp thought to himself as he crept closer to the pack leader. "Maple..." he sighed, looking down at her sleeping form. "I'm sorry I left the Night Ninjas, and I'm sorry...just for everything else. But now, you have taken the madness too far. Now you will die."
As Sharp clamped his jaws around Maple's vulnerable neck, he heard a shrill, drawn out whine being issued from her body as her neck was crushed severely. Although Sharp felt the warm rivulets of Maple's life blood flowing down his mouth, he didn't let go until she had stopped whining and moving altogether.
"Come on, we should go." Wess implied, starting to walk out of the cave. Sharp sighed once more before following silently.
"How'd it go?" Taka asked as soon as he saw Wess and Sharp exit the cave.
"Good enough. Sharp got the job done." Wess summed up, before sitting back on his haunches.
"Now comes the easy part."
