Wess was right. It was easier after the leader was killed. As soon as the pack members woke up, they actually thanked us for bringing the cruel reign of their leader to an end. Then, I was surprised. A gray speckled she-wolf glared at me while stalking forward. "Why would you do that to my mother?! She was the best leader ever and your mate killed her! Why?!"

I thought about this question for a moment before answering carefully "Maple may have acted differently around you because you were her pup, but the fact is that Maple was a terrible leader to this pack."

"I don't believe you. But mark my words, I will avenge my mother's death." the wolf snarled before bolting off into the woods.

Apparently no other wolves in the pack had even cared about the young wolf's warning, because half of them rolled their eyes immediately after the she-wolf ran off. I sighed, hoping that I didn't just end up causing more trouble.

"Heather?" Wess called.

I turned my head towards him and tilted it slightly, showing that I was paying attention.

"Thanks for the help. Although it was less trouble than I expected, I am still grateful for your help." Wess stated, bowing his head.

"It was nothing, really. Just come visit us again if you need something, alright?" I replied.

"Heather? Come on, we should get going." Sharp called.

"Bye." I said playfully to Wess before bounding off to Sharp, my wonderful mate. "Wait for me, Sharp!" Of course Coal, Breeze, and Taka were already ahead of Sharp, so I had the most catching up to do. Oh well, the cave isn't that far away at all...
