"I am sorry, Archie, but I'm not doing this ten questions thing with you"
"Well everyone else are taken so it's either that or fail the assignment"
"Then I guess I'm failing" I stood up to walk away but right when I did Mr.Cavanaugh walked in "hey students I hope everyone has found a new friend. Ms.Lodge is there a problem?"
"Yes, I am sorry but I can't work with him" Archie looked at me with a fake sad expression.
"I'm sorry but you have to work with him, now sit down!" I sat down next to Archie again who smirked at me apparently very pleased with the way things turned out.
"So you start, ask me a question Archie"
"Sure, first question. What's your name?"
"My name?"
"Yeah I never caught your name, beautiful flower"
"Well my name is Veronica, not beautiful flower"
"I like it, Veronica. Your turn"
"Sure, why did you move from Chicago? To many girls pining after you?"
"Nope I moved after my mom died in cancer" I looked at him to see if he was kidding but he looked deadly serious and I even saw tears start to form in his eyes.
"Archie, I'm so sorry I didn't know..."
"My turn, how many boyfriends have you had"
"One if you count kissing a boy in middle school"
"Doesn't count"
"Then zero. How many girlfriends have you had? And no hookups doesn't count"
"Well then I think three, the rest of them were hookups. Ever had sex?"
"That's a really inappropriate question"
"I'm guessing that's a no?" I glared at him and then looked away "I guess I've just never found the right guy, I mean if you haven't noticed I'm not so popular around here. I don't have boys pining after me"
"That's stupid"
"What is?"
"That boys aren't pining after you. You're beautiful, nice, fun and really, I mean really sexy" I chuckled and looked him in his eyes, and they were really beautiful. That's something I hadn't noticed in the beggining, maybe I had been to quick to judge him.
"Thank you, it means a lot to me that a bad fuckboy finds me sexy. It doesn't sound at all like you're trying to get in my pants" I said back to him with a sarcastic tone.
"Ouch Veronica, good way to hurt a guys feelings" he smiled at me and for just a brief moment I felt the urge to kiss him. Well that thought disappeared when Mr.Cavanaugh asked the class to look back up at the board "so class, the new partner you're sitting next to now will be your partner for the rest of the semester so you better get used to sitting next to them. I jokingly rolled my eyes at Archie who responded by sighing high.
After class I walked into the student lounge where Betty, Cheryl and Toni were waiting for me. I saw Betty giving me a death stare "what's going on, Betty?"
"Cheryl told me that you and Archie were very close today in class, care to explain?"
"There's nothing to explain, he's my new science partner and there's nothing I can do to change that. I don't have to like him but I can at least be nice to him, that way he won't be a bitch everytime we have a project or something to do together"
"I hope that there's nothing more, for your sake V"
"I promise you Betty, there's nothing more" I said it in a way like I was trying to convince her that nothing was going on between me and Archie but in reality I was trying to convince myself. I mean it didn't mean that I liked him in that way just because he made me smile. He was a douche and I know it so I can't fall for him which I haven't done and I won't do it either. But like I told Betty, I could at least be nice to him so that he would be nice to me. And also I had no reason to hate him, just like I had no reason to like him either but I still did like him. But I couldn't admit it, not to myself and not to Betty. I just had to not fall for him cause that's what he wants. He wants me to fall for him so that he can play me, take my virginity and then throw me away like some old, dead flower. Then I wouldn't be his beautiful flower, I would be his dead flower. For now I just had to see him in school but nowhere else, at least that's what I thought.
Later that night I sat in my room studying when the doorbell rang. I heard my mom open the door and I heard a voice I recognized to well start speaking "hey you must be Mrs.Lodge, I'm Archie a friend of Veronica"
"Really? She has never mentioned an Archie"
"Well we became friends this week, I'm new in town. Anyways Veronica asked me to come over and help her study for her test"
"Sure, her room is right down the hall to the left"
"Thank you Mrs.Lodge"
I heard Archies footsteps come closer to my room and soon he opened the door and just walked in. He didn't even say hi he just sat down on my ottoman and looked at me "ehm hi Archie"
"Hi I'm sorry for just coming over without telling you but we need to talk, it's important"
