Chapter Two: Doorbells Ringing

I hear the doorbell ringing insistently and we all exchange glances.

I realize that, because it's my house, I have to get the door.

It's been an hour since we got to my house and we've spent the whole time panicking and we tried to go down to the boardwalk to look across the water, but we couldn't see anything for the wedding because it wasn't next to the water.

But now whoever it ringing it hitting the button angrily.

I take a deep breath to prepare myself and walk over to the door. I unlock it and open it a crack.

My husband looks pissed. He's with his cousins, Caleb, his Grandpa, Megan's Dad Logan, Uncle Kevin, Brecklyn's husband Jared, and their baby Preston.

I pull the door open and they all come flooding into the house.

I shut the door quickly and lock it.

Danny immediately rounds on me.

"You lied to me. You ditched me at the park! And locked me out of my own house!"

I walk past him to the living room where all the girls are standing.

Megan stands up, running her hands across her face.

"Well? Does he know?"

"Uh, yeah, he knows." Uncle Logan says.

"He tried to kill me." Danny seethes. "Because I'm his best man and my wife was driving the get away car!"

"Oh get over it, Daniel." Beatrice says.

"No, because he could have busted my face in!"

"But he didn't." I say.

"You just ditched me! And then locked me out!"

"She did it to everyone." Caleb says. "Calm down."

"It was my fault." Megan says.

"But you didn't lie to me." Danny says, frustrated.

Brecklyn sighs and takes her baby from her husband Jared.

"I'm sorry." I say. "I'm glad he didn't hurt you."

Danny sighs, rubbing his forehead.

"Why?" He finally asks Megan.

"Yeah, you guys seemed happy, and he's really nice." Logan says to his daughter.

"I don't love him, Dad." Megan says. "I can't marry him. I can't."

Danny sighs and sinks onto the couch, putting his arm over his eyes.

"Something tells me this is going to be a very long day." He mutters.

The entire day was spent listening to the doorbell go off and choosing to ignore it. We laid around and watched movies and Megan would cry at anything. The sun has vanished hours ago but nobody got up to cook, so Danny and I ordered six pizzas.

"Next time somebody comes to the door, I'm answering it." I announce to everyone.

"That's a bad idea." Megan says.
