Lauren's POV (continued)

"I'm happy with you." I try to smile.

"Not the way you're happy with him." Luis says.

"Why can't you just let this go? Everything's finally good and it's like you're sabotaging it on purpose." I tell him truthfully.

"I'm not doing this on purpose. I want you to be happy. Maybe if we stay away from each other, you can figure it out more." He tries to persuade.

"You're leaving me too, aren't you?" I ask.

"No, of course not. I'll always be here." He answers.

I didn't say anything back or hear anything he said to me because I bolted out the door. I hopped into my car and drove off. I have no idea where I'm going, I'm just driving. I'm pretty sure I'm past the speed limit but I could care less. I finally ended up on the beach coast. I was speeding but it seemed to be an endless ocean. I don't want to be anywhere near human life. Why do emotions exist? They just crush you and never help you back up.

Luis said he wasn't leaving me and that he'll always be here but he's lying. He's only saying that because he doesn't want me to get more hurt. The ball was now in my hands. I'd have to shoot it in a hoop before the buzzer goes off. Zayn's hoop or Luis's hoop. I was all for Zayn's hoop but then everything happened and I just switched sides. Luis made me wanna go for his but his words brought me back to the middle. I have no idea where I'm going now except for in circles.

I turned the radio up and put it on blast. I'll probably go deaf but I don't care, honestly. Music is my way of escaping this bullshit of life. I drove as far as I could from my house and never stopped. I rolled all my windows down because I wanted to feel something. I guess the wind whipping through my hair made everything a little bit better. And then, the darkness consumed me.

Zayn's POV

Camila's giving her space? More like breaking her heart all over again. I'm not mad that Camila decided to do what she did to Lauren but I just don't think that's a good idea. Lauren needs a good support group and Camila was a big part of that. The girls are still there for her but they left back to their own homes again. The guys love Lauren but they're actually on vacation and sightseeing in Florida. Who knows when they'll be back? I would've went along but Lauren is my main priority.

I have to admit, seeing Luis all over her hurt but that doesn't mean I'm giving up. She's my true love and I won't stop fighting for her heart. I plan to give her a rose everyday until she has 50 just like I have 50 messages from her. So far, she has two. I didn't have time to give her the other two roses that she's supposed to have but I plan on doing it.

"Zayn, I'm so sorry! I didn't know it'd upset you. I just thought it'll help her think more independently. I'm always with her and making her make decisions so I thought I'd just let her make her own this time." Camila apologizes in one breath.

"Breathe, Camila, breathe. I'm not upset, just a little hesitant. I don't want her to do anything she'll regret." I tell her truthfully.

"Alexa lives with her. She'll watch her carefully." Camila says.

"Alexa's with Niall, remember?" I ask.

"Yeah.. You're right. Luis is with her!" Camila conveys.

"What about her parents or siblings?" I question.

"They're on a cruise. Lauren couldn't go because we have to go back to work in LA in a few days." She replies.

"Zayn, you're getting a call." Austin tosses me my phone.

It shown as an unknown number so I just declined it. After two minutes, it rang again. I gave in and just answered it. There was a lady's voice and faint shuffling in the background. It sounded like something was being wheeled.

"Is this Zayn Malik?" The lady inquired.

"Yes, I'm Zayn. Who's this?" I respond.

"I'm a nurse at Miami Hospital. You were the first person on Miss Jauregui's emergency contact list." The nurse explains.

"May I ask why you're contacting me?" I question suddenly concerned.

"Miss Jauregui has been in a car accident. She's been brought here and I'm sorry to inform you on this but she's in critical condition. She has a 20% chance of living. The other person impacted in this car accident was drunk driving and doesn't have long to live. Lauren's lucky. At least she has a chance." The nurse describes for me.

"W-what's going to happen to her?" I stutter.

"She's currently in a coma but she has a broken leg and fractured arm, both on her left side. She has a few cracked ribs and a 50% chance of amnesia." The nurse explained again.

"T-thank you for calling me." We said goodbye and I immediately got up and was frantically looking for keys.

"Zayn, what's up dude?" Austin wonders.

"Lauren, sh-she's in the hospital." I stutter scared for her.

"Wait what?! We have to go!" Camila shouts.

We all piled into Austin's car and he sped away. Once we got there, I jumped out the car when they were still finding a parking space. I ran in and asked the people at the desk for Lauren's room number. When they told me, I ran to the elevator and once the doors opened to her floor, I ran out almost knocking down an elderly man. I apologized quickly and continued my marathon. I barged into her room and there was a nurse checking on the machines.

"You must be Zayn." The nurse assumed.

"Yes, you must be the nurse who called me earlier." I also assumed.

"Yes I am. My name is Jessica." She introduced.

"Nice to meet you, Jessica. Thank you so much for taking care of Lauren." I say sincerely.

"It's my pleasure. She's doing great so far." Jessica replies.

"Zayn, what the hell?! Are you trying to kill yourself?!" Camila yells at me as soon as she entered the room.

"Sorry." I chuckled.

"This isn't funny! My best friend is already laying on one of these dreadful beds. I don't need another one here." She says seriously and sadly.

"I'm sorry, Camila. It won't happen again." I apologize honestly.

"It's okay. I'm sorry for yelling, it's just I can't believe Lauren's here. She looks so pale and lifeless. I miss the sound of her contagious laugh." Camila smiles sadly.

"We all can't believe she's here." Austin comforts her.

"Did you say she's in a coma?" I ask Jessica.

"Yes, she is and there's no telling when she'll wake up." She responds.

"What if she doesn't?" I inquire shakily.

"Don't think like that. Positivity will get you through this. I have to check on other patients but feel free to talk to her. Your voices will help her find her way back to reality." Jessica replies.

"Thank you again, Jessica." I say.

"It's no problem at all." She smiles and then leaves us all alone.

I grabbed a chair and sat next to my one true love. I grasped her hand and held it firmly. I still get the butterflies in my stomach from her touch. She looked really pale but her hand caused warmth for me. I smiled sadly at her even though she can't see it. I used my free hand to caress her cheek. It was still as soft as the first time. Seeing her like this broke me even more and I just thought that if it wasn't for me, she wouldn't be laying here right now. She's fighting for her life because of me. This time, I won't make a mistake. This time, I won't lose her.

A/N

This was supposed to be the ending of chapter 29. I added more stuff but yeah, I think it's pretty good. That's a lot coming from me. Hopefully you enjoyed and I know, it's kinda sad. I won't be updating in the next few days because I'll be in Chicago but who knows? I might do it anyways because I really like writing. Until next time. Bye!
