Percy gasped and stifled a scream. His fingers burned from being accidentally crushed between the door and the door frame. He tried to yank his fingers out but they were stuck.

Keys...

Percy thought frantically fumbling for them in his pocket. He was just leaving for a date with Annabeth and had locked the door while his fingers were in the wrong place. The fingers of his good hand wrapped around the key and he yanked it out in desperation. They flew out of his hand and landed across the hallway. Percy cursed.

He decides to call for help... oh no. Percy knew nobody would hear him. The only other residents on his floor were and old deaf couple. His fingers were burning intensely and he grit his teeth. Facing a monster was better that this.

Cell phone...

His mind told him.

Percy fished it out of his pocket and almost dropped it too. He simply pressed a random number on speed dial. The phone rang once and a sullen voice greeted him from the other end.

"Percy?" Nico asked from the other end.

"I need help! Shadow travel to my apartment fast!"

Percy heard shuffling in the background and a loud rustling.

Nico stepped out of the shadows near the old couple's door and looked at Percy.

"The keys!" They're right there! Near your foot. Get them!" Percy yelled frantically. Nico picked it up and ran towards Percy. He stuck the key in and tried to get the door open but the key got stuck too. Percy growled and slammed himself against the door. His fingers were definitely broken. They were bleeding a little too. Nico took a step back and slammed into the door with all his might. He crashed through the door and it broke. Percy pulled his fingers out and winced. Three of his fingers were bleeding where thee door had pressed into them and his fingers were broken painfully.

Nico pulled Percy into the house and asked him to sit down. He rummaged through the fridge and retrieved an icepack and some nectar. Percy slowly drank the nectar and Nico pressed the icepack to Percy's fingers, making Percy hiss.

They heard footseps walking into the hall from where the main door once stood. Annabeth stood there shocked. She ran to Percy and her eyes widened in realization.

"Seaweed Brain..." she muttered and put her hand on the icepack. Taking Nico's off.

Percy gave a slight smile. Sure, he'd endure pain that was much worse. But it was still extremely painful.

"We need to get your hand into a cast for a while, Seaweed Brain." Annabeth said taking the icepack off.

"Where's the first aid box? Never mind. We need to use water to heal you." She said.

She helped Percy stand up. Something struck Percy's mind.

"Where's Nico?"
