The Connection (CH#4)

Percy's eyes didn't leave Nico's and for the first time in Nico's life he wanted Percy to look away. Annabeth noticed where her boyfriend was looking and she eyed both the boys in confusion.

"What?" Annabeth asked.

"Annabeth, could you leave me and Nico alone for a minute. I need to talk to him."

"But Percy, you just-"

"It won't take long, Wise Girl."

Annabeth looked like she was ready to tie Percy to the bed and prevent all human and demigod contact till he heals but she reluctantly nodded and stepped aside. She left the room as Percy slowly sat up on the bed. His eyes hadn't left Nico.

"You saved me." Percy said. There was no emotion in his voice.

"Y-yes."

"You could've died too. And... what I've learnt today... I saw your whole life, you know?"

"I do."

"Yet, you helped me make that connection stronger."

"I d-did, Percy."

Silence engulfed the room.

"Is it true...?"

Percy asked, fidgeting with his shirt nervously. If the situation hadn't been so serious, Nico would've laughed at Percy's fidgeting.

He gathered every bit of courage left in his body to say that three letter word; "Yes."

Percy didn't know what to say. He had relived his own life. All those years of abuse with Gabe. His and Annabeth's first kiss. Tartarus.

Then he'd seen a boy he didn't recognize. His eyes were black and he was smiling as he played with an older girl. An imaginary kick to the head was all he needed to know that it was Nico and Bianca.

He relived Nico's life. Relived Nico's emotions. He felt all of Nico's hurt and agony. And then he felt a familiar feeling. Love.

Love towards himself, seeing as he was feeling it being Nico in Nico's life for a split second.

It was confusing at first, but the truth finally hit Percy.

Nico loved him.

All of Percy's life was devoted to Annabeth. He'd never felt love for Nico. As a brother, yes. But a lover? No.

He wasn't gay.

Nico was.

Then something else struck him. Nico had lived his life too. That meant...

"I saw what Gabe did to you." Nico said, as if reading Percy's thoughts.

Percy froze at the mention of his old stepfather. Somewhere inside him, there still was fear that he would see Gabe and he would hurt him again. And Nico was the only one who knew that.

Percy stood up uncertainly and walked towards Nico. He put his hands on Nico's shoulders and gave a small smile.

"Keep it a secret. And Nico, I know what you have felt too. I'm sorry, but I really can't help you there. But I'm sure you'll find a better guy than me who'll love you forever. Just like I love Annabeth. And I'll be there at your wedding. Remember that."

They hugged and tears escaped Nico's eyes. Percy smiled. He was sort of happy at how it had all turned out.

But Annabeth was more than astonished from where she'd heard the entire conversation.

VRC! I'm gonna continue this four shot and make it longer. Maybe a lot of storie will turn out that way in this book.
