(A/N): So this is the fifth chapter of The Connection and Annabeth has kept it a secret that she'd overheard Nico and Percy's conversation. Timing is one week later.
*************
"Get out!" Nico screamed at Percy from outside the bathroom.
"I need to pee!!"
Percy grunted because he was brushing his teeth. His phone started ringing suddenly. His phone was outside.Judging by the ringtone 'Wild Heart' by The Vamps, it was Wisey Girly.
He spat the foam out of his mouth and rinsed it and ran to his phone at the speed of light, almost knocking Nico over. It was over a week since the incident, and Annabeth had gone to San Francisco to stay with her parents for a while.
"HEY!" he screamed a little too excitedly. A person on the other line groaned.
"Percy..." Annabeth said weakly.
"Annabeth? What happened? Are you okay? Did a monster get to you? Are you injured?!" Percy bombarded her with questions but shut up when Annabeth yelled at him to not... yell.
"I'm sick." She explained in two words.
"I'm coming!"
"Percy, I'm in San Francisco." She said before going into a coughing fit.
"I don't care. I'll get Blackjack to fly me there."
"Have you gone absolutely crazy? New York and San Francisco are 2566 miles apart. And though I would love for you to be here, it's impossible for you to come here fast."
"Why did you call me then?"
The question caught Annabeth off guard.
"I wanted to be with someone so..."
"I'm here for you."
"Thanks."
Suddenly Annabeth hung up. Percy squinted at the phone before calling again. She hung up again. Fear built itself in his heart but he suppressed it. His phone pinged suddenly.
One message from Wise Girl.
He clicked it open and his eyes widened.
'Someone is in the house. It's not Dad or Susan or Bobby or Matthew.'
Percy breathed heavily before replying.
'Robber?'
'Maybe.'
'Can you defend yourself?'
'No. I'm too weak. Stupid fever.'
'Hide somewhere. Fast!'
Percy waited for a pianful minute but she didn't reply.
'Annabeth?' He tried again.
Two minutes later, no reply.
