Since she could remember, she'd been like this.

People were scared of her. They cowered before the fearsome glimmer in her eyes, they begged for mercy in her grasp. They bowed down before her aura, they hurried away when she approached them.

There were others too. Ones that didn't show that they were intimidated, that stood up and tackled her, that screamed in fury. That got heated and attacked their friends, blind in rage. That suddenly remembered small, forgotten things, making their blood boil and them want revenge.

She could only smile slightly about it. She knew the power that she had wouldn't last forever, but she enjoyed it while it did. Humans were so easy to manipulate, to play with them was fun, but it got boring after a while.

So Ira spread her wings wide, casting a shadow over the small town. Roars of thunderous hatred and fury started to reach her ears, her shadow spreading wide and far. Glass broke as things were hurled, babies started to cry, sobs and furious screams pierced the night.

She inhaled deeply, smirking in satisfaction as her power grew with the wrath and fear she made the humans feel. The longer she stood with her wings open, watching the town grow into a murderous fiesta, the more she knew it was her time to go.

Ira sighed as she silently soared over the houses, circling and growing closer to one particular one. It was a quiet house, one on the outskirts, one where she could hear none of her effects.

She'd been watching the little girl for a while. The girl that reminded her of herself, cold and unbothered, with a spark of hatred towards humans in her eye. She was a baby still, but Ira could see her coming years, and knew she was the perfect candidate.

She made no sound as she landed in the front garden, dark eyes searching the street. Two houses away, she saw a bloody fight between two brothers, and a woman cowering in fear in the window opposite. She smirked, running her tongue across her fangs and tucked her wings in neatly before entering.

The floorboards of the house shrieked and groaned under her feather light steps, the entire house shaking as she walked. There were no parents, no caring mother, no loving father. They were gone, and she was the reason for it.

The baby didn't stir as she approached her cot, her fingers merely twitching in sleep. Ira smiled, bending down to the child. Her cold lips traced along the girl's forehead, whispering age old words into her ear. As she drew back, the baby's eyes opened.

They stared at the foreign, dangerous strange woman with curiosity. Ira bent down once more, gently placing her mouth on the child's. She heard the girl's short breath, and saw the new deeper understanding that flashed in her eyes.

"Ego sum mater tua nunc, filia. Vivie diu, et extendere mea regnare", she whispered, the raspy words rolling off her tongue so easily. The baby stared at her, eyes dropping. The memory would be erased by the second she fell asleep again, but her subconscious would always remember Ira.

She stepped away from the cot, feeling power drained from her. She felt tired for the first time in centuries, but her deed was done. And now she could sleep in peace, knowing she had her to follow her footsteps.

Ira left the house in silence. The town was suddenly eerily calm, blood, glass and a body on the streets, but no sound from anywhere. As her wings carried her away, she looked back down at the house, the image of the girl flashed in her mind.

Bene dormit, filia mea.

"ARE YOU CRAZY, LUXURIA?!"

The lustful Sin ducked as the other sixes powers were hurled towards him, usually enchanting features distorted into a fearsome snarl. His eyes were flashing at the six before him, but he didn't back down.

"No, I am not, Invidia", he growled, staring at them, "I have made my choice as you made yours. I selected seven to carry the traits of my Sin. What does it matter if you only selected one each?".

"Because, as if our power isn't already weaker from the centuries it's been passed on, you just made yours even less of a threat!", Ira shrieked, her red eyes glowing in disgust.

Luxuria seemed to grow in threat as she said that, tall figure towering even more. "You will respect my decision", he snapped, "I selected the seven best. My power, split into these seven individuals, will be stronger than ever, you just see".

"But that is not fair", the drawling, arrogant voice of Superbia rang through the halls as the Sin came closer, "If Luxuria gets to choose seven, I want my power to be just as large. Otherwise we are not balanced".

"I agree", Gula narrowed his eyes at Luxuria, Avarita next to him nodding too, "I will return and bestow my power in seven individuals. Avarita and I will be back tomorrow".

The rest of the Sins watched as they rose and soared away, wings wide spread and their hands intertwined. Ira, fuming, used this moment to throw Luxuria down.

The Sin glared at her in rage, but the fire in his was no match for the wrath in her eyes. "You selfish, delusional-", Ira hissed as she wrapped her long, slender fingers around his neck, bending over him, "Greedy little bitch. I will not follow your footsteps. My power stays with the one I chose".

"Ira, do you not want your power to measure ours?", Acedia sounded amused, watching the scene with his arms crossed over his chest. Ira let go of Luxuria with a roar, launching forwards at the Sin.

Acedia simply sighed, letting her try and strangle him. The other Sins watched in mild amusement and irritation, including Luxuria, who had stood back up.

"That's enough, Ira", Superbia finally pulled her back, rolling his eyes as she hissed at him, "We are all going back down and choosing six others to let our power live on. No discussion".

Acedia, Invidia and Superbia all rose together in an instant, leaving the two last Sins alone. Ira glared after them, arms crossed. Her rage was bubbling inside, eyes glowing fiercely.

"That's it then, darling", the silky voice of Luxuria sounded from behind her and she spun around. The Sin watched her in satisfaction, arms crossed and smirking.

"My sons will conquer your daughter", he breathed, "If you are not willing to distribute your power over seven too, I will make sure that she falls to their charm".

Ira's red eyes were burning like fire as she held her head high, wings wide spread, pure wrath pulsating around her in a fearsome aura.

"And I will make sure my daughter never does that, Luxuria. I will guide her way and destroy your descends while you watch in horror".

She glared at him one last time, jumping into the air after hissing her last words with the supressed rage of a thousand years.

Luxuria smirked as he watched her fly away, fingers tapping on the armrest of his throne.

"Oh, Ira, Sin of Wrath", he said quietly, "I do believe it will be quite the other way around".

Welcome readers ^^

My name is Ella, and you might know me from my first account, ShardsOfMind.

I've wanted to write something like this for a very long time, and I've finally done it. I hope you liked the prologue, and there is still a lot to come, trust me.

If you are confused about what the Latin sentences mean, I'll drop a short translation here. I will do this more often, since the Latin language plays a bit of a role in this story.

"I am your mother now, daughter. Live long, and extend my reign"

"Sleep well, my daughter"

Hope you enjoyed! Don't forget to comment and vote xx Until soon.
