"Respice post te"

-Look behind you-

~~

You still felt uneasy by the time you'd gotten back home. After shopping quickly and walking through town to memorise the place a little more, you'd headed back to your house, looking over your shoulder all the while.

It was the same insecurity from being in new territory, mingling with the nervousness you had from running into those boys. The shiver running down your spine just thinking about the way they'd talked to and looked at you proved you should be careful.

You'd never been afraid of or nervous around anyone ever before, so if they were making you feel so cautious, there was more going on.

There were more forces you didn't understand involved in this than the emotions they could awake in you.

Your head was a muddled mess, to be honest. You didn't feel weak at all, even after collapsing - you'd never felt physically tired in your life - but you needed to sort through all that had happened and analyse the situation.

Leaving the shopping bags on the kitchen counter, you headed upstairs into your room. There was still another large suitcase to unpack, but you ignored it and took your laptop from the side table.

The names of those mysterious forces burned on your tongue as you slowly typed them into the search engine. Your eyes flew over the results, pursing your bottom lip.

Ira was Latin for anger. Luxuria, also apparently Latin, had a few translations, luxury and lust being the top results. Eyebrows furrowed in confusion, you kept scrolling down, but didn't find any further information.

Huffing in disappointment, you shut the laptop and went back downstairs. You weren't any further, only knowing the rough translation of the names they were apparently called.

Whoever or whatever they really were.

The fact that they had Latin names was very suspicious to you, just like the fact that they had wings and their eye-colour was unnatural. You had the increasing feeling that, not only were you you getting deeper into the mystery of what you were, but also why you were that way.

And those two things were all that had ever mattered to you to find out.

The afternoon went and passed. Too quickly for you to process, night was already falling when you finished unpacking and making a list of all the utensils you still needed to get. Standing in the kitchen, you stared vacantly into thin air, back leant against the countertop.

The streets outside were dark except for the flickering streetlights, casting dancing shadows onto the concrete. It was a little eerie, the quiet, the fact that you were completely and utterly alone.

Vulnerable.

Goosebumps were erupting along your arms, you rubbed them in discomfort and efforts to calm yourself down. There was no need for you to be afraid - nobody normal dared to hurt you.

What if you were being targeted, though, by something not normal?

A small voice in your head whispered frantically, making you impatient with yourself. What was wrong with you? You were never scared, always confident, always... right about your instincts.

And that instinct was telling you there was something wrong.

God fucking damn it.

You stared out onto the street. If you were not completely mistaken, there was a figure hiding in the shadows of a house further down the road. You tensed up, biting your lip.
