CHAPTER 6

“Band, play the music please! Let’s give the audience a good show!”

Liam called to the band as he got ready to perform his latest single for the first time. Little did he know that his first performance was going to be ruined by Giselle. At least Giselle didn’t think she was ruining his performance, but judging by what Louis had said, Liam would most definitely consider the show ruined.

Giselle decided to let him start the show.

“Baby,” he started, making all the girls go crazy.

“Heard you’ve been talking about me lately,” he continued, till he finished the first verse. That was when Giselle, who was standing backstage and staying out of view, switched on her mic and harmonised with him: “You’ve been saying real real nice real nice things, when I’m touching you.”

Everyone heard her. The cheering got even louder, while Liam seemed to get mildly distracted... just mildly.

You’re gonna need more than that, Louis mouthed from afar. Giselle just nodded, though she wanted to scream I KNOW!

“You said it was over!” Liam hit his falsetto note, making the crowd erupt into loud shrieks, portraying exactly how Giselle was feeling then. I mean, it was Liam Payne, her favourite singer, performing live in front of her! But at the same time SHE WAS ATTEMPTING TO INFURIATE HIM!

The moment Liam finished his chorus with ‘yeah’ Giselle hopped on stage and started, “Baby.”

Liam’s hand dropped to his side as he stared at her in utter disbelief, his eyes nearly popping out of his head. The assembled audience went quiet, as Giselle took a small step ahead and continued, “Why d’yu always act like you don’t know me?”

The crowd finally cheered for her. As Giselle moved to the right side of the stage, the crowd seemed to be gliding towards her as well, leaving Liam on the left. By the time Giselle finished the second verse, the entire audience cheered for her only.

Wow, that was quick, Giselle marvelled.

She looked back at Liam, who was visibly fuming. He flipped his mic angrily and brought it up to his lips in a flash. “You’ve been saying real real nice real nice things, when I’m touching you.”

But Giselle didn’t let him have a moment to himself. In this manner, Giselle continued to keep the attention away from Liam till they finished singing the bridge. Now was the time for Liam’s big high-note-hit-finale.

And Giselle ruined it by performing it first.

“You said it was oVEEERRRRR!” she leaned back and looked up as she hit the note flawlessly. The audience cheered louder than they had that day. Giselle opened her eyes slightly, and a God caught her eye. Hephaestus was several feet above her, fastening a little cat-walk to the top of the screen. He glanced down and gave her a thumbs-up before returning to his task. So, they do have a plan.

As she finished her finale, she lowered her mic and looked at Apollo.

  He was irate.

He threw his mic down and glared at her. She could swear that smoke was rushing from his ears. The tip of his ears, nose and rims of his eyes turned blood-red. His perfect pure-white teeth were grit hard together.

   Now Giselle was petrified.

“YOU MORTAL DARE MESS WITH ME!” he bellowed. His Payne-Chain disappeared. Instead, it morphed into a gorgeous golden bow, with a matching quiver full of glistening arrows. But Giselle did not consider it gorgeous once Apollo aimed an arrow at her.
