The smell of roast meat and potatoes wafts through the house, anticipation making me salivate. Of course. It's Wednesday, and Wednesday means Family Dinner. The one night my Golden Brothers hang up their capes and spend time with us. You see, My Mum was one of those stereotypicals you see in films - kidnapped by the villain, rescued by the Hero - who just so happened to be my dad. Three magical, superhero boys later I was born, and as far as my family knows the 'magical hero genes' ran out before I came to be. They're wrong.
"Aelia, come set the table, please. Your brothers will be home any minute now" With a sigh, I hop off my bed. "Coming Mum!" As I set the last fork into place, several thuds echo outside, across the yard. "They're here" I yell to Mum, as Dad takes his place at the head of the table. One at a time my brothers stroll in. "Hey Dad," says Luke, my eldest brother. "You're late" replies Dad, with arched eyebrows. "You can't blame us Dad, we've bigger troubles on our hands!" protested Carter. "Yeah, you really won't believe it. To be honest, I can't believe it," said Luke. "Sit down I'll tell you about it over dinner. I'm starving!"
Typical boys. More concerned about their stomachs then anything else. Mum walks in with the Roast and places it in front of Dad to cut.
"You won't believe what's happened today Ma" Started Luke, his eyes glazed with worry. "There's a new villain in town. He's utterly ruthless, and clever. Heck, he's even worse than that Blackjay fellow from a couple years back." Concern washes over Mum's face. "You be careful boys. You have no idea what they're capable of." My siblings grumble their assent and continue to shovel food into their mouths. "Promise me you'll stay safe!" demands Mum, and Mike exhales in frustration. "Mum!" he complains. "We're Heroes! We've got powers, and everyone knows we're the only people who have them. We'll be fine."
