(in which Demi is a homeless orphan and you are a cook in a fancy resteraunt)

You wipe your forehead as you take off your apron and hang it up on the hook. It's 5:09 which means it's the end of your shift. You work at a fancy resteraunt a few blocks down from your apartment building. You work as a cook there since you've had experience in cullenary. You've been working there for over a few months. It pays good money and all, but your boss is a real dick. He made you lock up the resteraunt tonight after everyone had left.

You make sure you turn the "Open" sign around to "Closed" before you look around the room. All of the chairs are stacked and up on the tables that are cleaned. You lean against one table with your phone to check the time and see that it's 5:11. You look outside at the sky which is an orange color with pink clouds stretching across the sky. All you have to do now is get your stuff from the kitchen and you'll be out of here.

Just as you're about to walk there, a loud knock comes from behind you, causing to jump and almost drop your phone. You look behind you to see the most beautiful and dirtiest girl you've ever seen. Her hands are pressed against the glass of the large window to the resteraunt. Her hair is brown with the strands dyed purple and silver and all on the left side of her head under her black beanie. She's wearing a red and black plaid flannel and graphic, gray T-shirt under a tattered, army green jacket. Her face is full and gorgeous, her eyes big and brown, her lips a pink color. Her face is also smudged with dirt.

You slowly make your way to the glass double doors and push one open, the coldness of the winter making you shiver. The girl slowly walks up to you, a shy smile on her face as she hugs herself. "Hi."

"Hi," you say. "Can I help you?"

"I'm sorry to bother you and come up to you like this," she says, "but do you have a towel I could borrow or something? I was walking and this truck went by and splashed all of this water and snow and dirt all over me." It's only now that you can see how wet she is, her hair dripping, her jacket splattered in mud and water along with a black skinny jeans.

"Yeah," you say. "Of course. Come in." You open the door wider for her and she thanks you before scurrying in and closing the door.

"Sorry," she says again. "I saw the sign saying it was closed, but I wanted to try anyway because no one else would help me. I mean, who would want to help a dirty, homeless freak like me?"

"It's fine," you say, shrugging. "And you're not a freak. I can tell. I'm Y/N by the way."

"Demi," she says, smiling.

"Let me show you to the back," you say and lead her back to the large kitchen and into the backroom there. "We have two showers back here because there are a lot of messes in the kitchen."

"You're a cook here?" she asks.

"Yeah," you say. You give her a bar of Dove soap, a wash cloth, and a towel which she thanks you all for. "You want something to eat too?" You can't help but notice how skinny she is.

"No, it's fine," she says. "I don't wanna trouble you."

"It's cool," you say. "Ill be quick. Soup sound okay?"

When she nods, you take that as your cue to leave her to do her business and walk into the kitchen, grabbing ingredients. You grab an onion, string beans, carrots, celery, potatoes, and some pepper before you put them all on the counter and grab your soup pot and spoon. By the time you're finished, Demi is done her shower. She steps out of the hallway and into the kitchen wearing her clothes, but she looks cleaner and smells sweeter.

She looks so pretty that it gives you a few seconds to shake yourself out of it. You clear your throat and motion towards the soup pot. "The soup is ready," you say. "You can take a seat out front. Just take a chair off of the table and sit down. I'll do the rest."

She nods and thanks you before leaving. You take a white soup bowl from the closet and pour some soup from the soup pot into it with a soup spoon and pour a glass of water and two large cookies that you baked while waiting for the soup to cook and take it all out on a tray to the front.

You see Demi sitting at a table and you and her take the rest of the chairs on top of it off of the table and afterwars, you both sit down and she digs into her food. She lets out a sigh as she gulps down a spoonful of soup. "This is really good."

"Thank you," you say, leaning your chin in your hands.

"I could never cook like this," Demi says.

You start to tell her about you taking cullenary classes and wanting to be a chef ever since you were little. You tell that working here is good. It pays good and you're able to pay everything in your apartment and buy everything you need.

Demi then tells you about how she would love to be you, to have a home and a job. She ran away from home because of her life of being bullied and being ignored in the beginning of the year and hasn't turned back since. She used to live in a apartment in the basement for about two months before someone found her and kicked her out. She's been out on the streets ever since, finding places to stay and stealing food and begging and street performing for money which she just sings. Her guitar and things are at an abandoned resteraunt she's living in right now.

You think her story is completely sad and you blink away your tears. You're both silent as she eats the rest of her food and wraps her two cookies up in a white cloth that she asked of you to save for later. "Thank you, Y/N," she says with a smile. "Not just for the food, but for just letting me in. Many would have hestiated and shooed me away, thinking I would steal something." She rolls her eyes.

You shrug, standing up with her. "No problem, Demi," you say.

You're both silent for a moment, just staring at each other when she clears her throat. "Well, I should probably get going," she says. As she's turning to leave and walking towards the door, you think quickly. You can't just let her leave now and live on the streets.

"Wait!" you say and she turns around, startled. "Um, i-it's getting dark outside, and it's getting really good. You can just stay with me for a while until you find somewhere else to stay instead of an abandoned resteraunt. I can cook for you and I have a guest bedroom that you can sleep in and extra clothes." You're aware that you're rambling, but you can't help it. She's just so beautiful and you want to know more about her and be there for her, make sure she has a better life even though you just met the girl.

Demi then smiles, showing all of her teeth. "I'd love that. Thank you, Y/N."

After you get your stuff and clean up the resteraunt with the help of Demi, you both walk out to your car, the cold not even touching the two of you.
