Robert
Robert made a good assistant medic. He could easily outmaneuver battlefields, and tried to shield Jared from the worst of it. Jared loved to share all the medical secrets he could with Robert, in case something bad happened to him. Even if they didn't have to much in common, Jared could spend hours trapped in a small tent with Robert. Jared's moral broke down even more when he died.

Alex
Jared knew Alex for years, upon years, upon years. They had seen it all together. While he knew Alex had a rough and harsh interior, Jared knew the boy was a big softie beneath it all. No matter what, Jared knew Alex would do anything for his friends. And he proved it time and time again. It's why Jared stayed with them after all those years; he had spent a century with Alex and hoped to spend a century more.

Harry
If there was a perfect match for Alex, it was Harry. Jared was happy when the boy came, and even happier the longer Alex spent with him. Harry in and of himself was a fine fellow, a bit too excited for Jared's pace, but later on a bit too demoralized. But so was Jared, so he didn't think he could judge the other boy too harshly.
