McKayla's POV:
Today was just a regular Monday. Kids were at school, except Briella who was hanging out with Whitney and Austin today. I was working at Blaney Motorsports today, getting paperwork done and getting sponsors stuff finalized for Atlanta.
"Hi McKayla." Danielle smiles.
"Hi, how are you?" I ask.
"Really good, and you?"
"I'm great." I smiled. Danielle was one of our four-drivers at Blaney Motorsports. She defiantly made a name for herself in the K&N Series and the Truck Series. We couldn't help but sign her last year, she's brought us a lot of success. "Are you ready for this weekend?" I asked, watching the crew start building the cars.
"Yeah, my team is really excited. We love Atlanta."
"You guys are pretty awesome there. You totally dominated the entire race last year." I commented. I wrap up our conversation and headed back to my office, to get some much-needed work done.
"McKayla, Ryan would like to see you in his office," David says, poking his head into my office. I nod and walked over to Ryan's office. I see him on the phone, so I knocked on the door.
"Come in." He says. I swing open the door. "Alright, thank you very much. Bye." He says, hanging up the call.
"David said you wanted to see me?"
"Just wanted to see my wife is all, and we have a meeting with Chase. But mostly I wanted to see you, and you know you don't have to knock on the door." He chuckled.
"Aren't you just a romantic," Chase comments walking in, closing the door behind him. "I'm glad to see you too bro."
"Wow," I comment.
"Not so much you." Chase jokes.
||After Meeting||
As we finished up the meeting, my phone began to buzz in my pocket. I take it out and checked out the caller ID.
"Who is it?" Ryan questioned.
"The school," I replied, answering the call. "Hello?"
"Hi Mrs. Blaney, this is Ms. Johnson from the office."
"Hello Ms. Johnson. Are the kids alright?"
"Peyton was feeling a bit sick earlier. We sent her to the nurse's office, and she has a low fever. Is there any way you could pick her up?"
"Yes, of course, I'm on my way." I finish up the call. Ryan looks at me concerned. "Peyton isn't feeling well. I have to go pick her up."
"You don't think?"
"I hope to god not."
||Home||
"Go lay on the couch," I tell Peyton. I set her bag down by the front door and walked into the kitchen. I get her medicine and water. "Here take this sweetie," I say, handing it to her. She slowly takes it and lays her head on a pillow. I cover her up with a blanket and walked into the kitchen to make a call.
From Ryan: How's Peyton doing?
To Ryan: not doing too well
From Ryan: I'm finishing up at the shop and then I'll pick up the twins and Brie. I'll be home soon.
To Ryan: Alright, see you soon
After a few hours, I carried Peyton up to her room so the twins wouldn't wake her up when they came back from school. As I walked up downstairs, the door swings open.
"Hi mommy!" Summerlyn and Noah run-up, hugging my leg.
"Hi guys, how was school?" I asked. They ramble on and on telling me everything about their day. They both hand me pictures they drew during art class. "Oh my goodness these are so good!" I exclaimed. Noah, of course, drew a picture of Ryan's car, and Summerlyn drew a picture of the whole family at the track. "I love these. You know what? Why don't you guys go hang these on the fridge?"
"Really?" Noah asks.
"Yes." I smiled. "I love these so much," I added, handing them back. They snatch the papers and run into the kitchen to put them on the fridge.
"How's she doing?" Ryan asks, setting his things down.
"The same." I sighed. "I scheduled her a doctor's appointment for tomorrow morning. I just wanna make sure she doesn't get sick again. I don't want her to go through that again."
And I prayed to god she didn't have to...
