Chapter 12

Natsu's P.O.V

Physics and RST with Lucy was totally strange! She was so hyped up that I barely recognize her. I had no idea what had gotten into her. Feels like I was with somebody else.

Could Lion change her that much by joining her club? How much can she change if he started courting her? I closed my eyes. Ugh. I didn't want to imagine it. She might turn girly and not be the same Lucy I know.  I shook my head in disgust. I don't want her to change.

People change, Natsu, a small voice reminded me. It's only a matter of time before she matures enough to be self-conscious. You're both growing up. You can't expect her to be the same boy-ish nerd forever. Just accept it.

"Hey," said Sting, as he got closer. "Got some information about that Lion guy."

"He's from California. He moved here to take care of his grandparents," Sting paused to grimace. "Students also say he's kind, handsome, and non-athletic and he's more into.........art?" He added unsurely of what he's talking about. Then, he simply shook his head.

"I don't know what that means but I'm sure of one thing: He's not into girls and definitely not a threat." he added, nodding.

Wow. Lion was to good to be true. I mean, what kind of guy would be interested in art? Seriously, there's something fishy about that guy. Although, he's not a threat..........

"But then why?...." I trailed off.

"Why what?" Sting asked.

Why does he act like he's interested in Lucy? I thought. I've seen the way he looks at her. There's no way he's interested into guys.

"No.." I assured them. "He's not gay."

"How can you tell?" Sting demanded.

"Hey," started Gajeel. "Just because he likes art doesn't mean he's gay." Gajeel shooked his head.

Sting looked skeptical. "But it's weird!" He grimaced. Gajeel and I chortled.

"You know what else is weird?" Sting asked quietly. "I swear I've seen him somewhere before. Doesn't he look familiar?" Gajeel and I wondered.

"No." we answered in unison. "Hmmm..." he mumbled thoughtfully. Then he shrugged and said, "Whatever."

Gajeel shooked his head again at Sting's behavior. Most of the time, it's amusing, but on some occasions, his childish manners is exasperating.

"So, Natsu," said Gajeel, changing the subject. "He sounds like a nice guy."

I stared at Gajeel for a moment. The thought about him liking Lucy  popped out of my head. I wanted to ask him about it, but I might be wrong. Then again, he seemed so distracted about something or someone.

"Maybe," I said indifferently. "It's so early to think about it." Who knows what kind of things Lion can do. It's not right to judge persons you barely know.

"Why are you interested in him, anyway?" Sting asked. "Is it because he's getting close to Heartfilia?"

I didn't answer and looked away. They stared at me, waiting for my answer. I continued to stare at the empty corridor.

I sighed, "Am I being protective?" I asked them, turning my back.

"No," said Gajeel. "Yes." said Sting.

"Dude, you're the bestfriend not the boyfriend." added Sting, raising an eyebrow.

"It's not like you to told her to stay away from him." justified Gajeel, putting his hands inside his pockets. "You just did a little recon."

"Isn't that the same thing?" asked Sting in confusion. "No," Gajeel replied.

I sighed again. My mind was getting confused.

"Alright," I finally said, gesturing to hold and listen.

"I'll let it go. Just..." I trailed off, not knowing what are the right words. Gajeel and Sting waited, attentively.

"Just keep an eye on Lion for me." I told them casually.

"Fine," Gajeel said rolling his eyes.

Sting smirked. "Easy," he snorted.

But the truth is, it was a big deal for me.
