I sat in front of the lounge mirror, legs crossed as I slowly did my makeup. Nicole peeped from the bathroom, fitting in large-loop earrings.
"You still doing it?" she asked quite loudly, catching my attention as I watched her from the mirror.
"Yes. Making my imperfections, perfections." I whisper, then continue to finish.
"You're fine without it." Nicole laughs before re-entering the bathroom. I rolled my eyes, following in a warming smile. Suddenly, her phone's ringtone caught my attention. I looked in it's direction, then back to Nicky. "Can you get it?" God, I love her.
"Yep, babe." I call back, jolting to my feet as I rush over. I pick up the phone, swiping 'answer' on an unknown number. "Y'ello?"
"Hey, when are you n Delilah coming?" clearly, the voice was Franky. I let out a smile over both signals that she didn't know it was me, but her number was also not saved.
"Franky- Hey. It's- it's Delilah." I respond, turning to Nicole who watched me. I scrunched up my nose to give a good signal as Nicole turned back to the mirror.
"Oh hello. Soo- when will you's be over?" she repeated.
"I'd say 30?" I estimate, still watching Nicole.
"All right. We have another guest." Franky said calmly.
"Who?" I ask, turning away to look at the full-wall windows.
"Vera." she chuckled slightly, stopping once my answer longed. I looked around, confused.
"Vera? Bennet?" I repeat, then hearing Nicole's voice boom.
"Your governor?" she shot. I look to her, eyebrows raised with a head nod.
"Mmhm." Franky spoke slightly.
"What about you and Gidge?" I ask, hearing a sigh on her end.
"Well, she knows?" she chuckled as I sighed.
"We'll be over ASAP." I said before hanging up. I placed the broken phone back onto the table to look t Nicole who watched me carefully.
"Guess we're going?" she smiled as I nodded my head.
"Break the tension." I mutter, watching Nicole break our eye contact.
*Three Hours Earlier*
"Dress shopping?" I mumble as we cross into the city of Melbourne. We drove so far just to do this, and it seemed so unnecessary. As we walked through the square, everywhere you look there were buildings. In front of us were two large Myer buildings, easy travel between buildings by a bridge gaping between both stores.
"Yes, Delilah, we need something good to wear!" She responded calmly. I look up toward her, her lips formed a smile.
"It's just Franky." I reply, looking straight forward.
"Yes, and Bridget and Vera." Nicole pointed out. I nodded in agreement.
"You're right." I mutter. As we walk, a small screech could be heard in Nicole's direction, the kind of screech she'd only make when she met me again, after so many years.
"I haven't been here is so long." She awhed, her eyes glued onto the buildings.
"Then you're welcome for saying yes." I mumble, Nicole turning to me. I felt her fingers graze past mine as they tighten, her hand officially in mine.
