She took the stairs down to the platform, the song "City Boy" by Calpurnia was playing in her headphones. She fell in love with the song when Spotify suggested it to her. She didn't know anything about the band, she only knew the song. She didn't care about knowing the band members.
The platform was cold and the air smelled of urine and smoke, the classic Philly smell. She cuddled up to her scarf, to get rid of the goosebumps rising from her skin. She was prepared and had her duffle bag tightly in her hand. The boy running down the steps toward the platform was not.
He had a frazzled look on his face, and had his bag strewn wildly over his shoulder. He noticed how everyone was in either a suit or sweats. However, the girl wearing a sweater dress and a bright purple scarf caught his eye the most. She stood with her headphones in staring blankly at the tracks. She looked like she didn't care at all, and that surprised the boy. He wanted her to care about something.
She felt someone staring, but she would be caught dead before she looked around to see someone. The train pulled fastly into the station causing her to jump a little in surprise. She could see through the windows it was a packed train so she was either gonna have to share a seat, or stand. She rolled her eyes thinking about how sketchy some of the people on this train must be.
The doors opened and the boy jogged forward to be right behind the girl. She walked toward one of the quad seats. The seats with 2 facing backwards and 2 facing forwards. She sat in the window seat facing forward and the seat next to her was open, so that's where he sat. SHe scooted closer to the window and looked out of it.
Her eyes were locked out of the window. She was deep in thought about what her parents will do when they notice shes not there, what will they think, and what are they gonna tell the school they were forcing her to go to? When the curly haired boy sat next her, she just moved close to the window, she didn't care about him sitting there, but she needed the time to think. She did however feel happy, because he looked like a good kid and not some sketchy dude.
He wore plain black jeans and a thick black sweater. He had on a newer pair of vans, and he had on a black beanie. Wearing all black was kind of his thing. He wore a small amount of cologne, and his hair was unwashed. He was looking messy, but also put together.
He noticed the knots in her hair, and the tear stains on her cheeks, and he wanted to ask her about them, but he decided to give her a few minutes.
The train pulled out of the station, and he thought about how he had no clue where he was going, but lifes an adventure, so why worry about the destination.
