She thought about what she would say to him. 'Hi, I'm Abigail, most people call me Abby, I hate my parents and I hope to never go back home, but it's super nice to meet you even though we'll never talk again'. There was no nice approach to it. She was a runaway, even though she was technically an adult she was running away from home. She was becoming that girl. What if she took a nicer approach, 'hello, I'm Abby it's a pleasure to meet you." But that was so boring in her eyes. She wasn't the girl that was simple and took the easy way out, even though that's exactly what she's doing by running away. But as soon as she would get to her aunts, she would be able to live how she wanted.
How could he talk to her, 'hi I'm Finn Wolfhard, I'm an actor, and I'm running away from my career because I'm a pussy.' He couldn't be that blunt with her. But if he was super nice and fake the conversation would get awkward really quick and he would ruin his shot. He really just wanted to know about her, and what could have caused her so much pain that she would be on a train with tear stained cheeks and luggage. He realized they were both running away from something.
"Hey, let me guess why you were crying, it might be fun. I've been crying too." He thought to him self 'oh my god Finn you fucked up.'
"Go ahead, it's not like you'll get it right anyway." The girl said sassily without making eye contact with him or moving a muscle.
Maybe this would work out for him.
"Hmmm. Okay, my first guess is you're leaving an abusive significant other...well you're rolling your eyes so that's not it. Did someone die that you have to leave?" She shook her head and chuckled a little. She removed and ear bud and turned to him.
"Let me guess why you're crying, mommy and daddy took away something you wanted."
He couldn't believe what she said.
"No, actually I'm just stressed. But nice try. Based off of how you cringed when you said those things, I'm gonna guess that your problem is parent issues." He said sharply. She smiled gently then sniffles a little. Before looking him directly in the eyes with tense shoulders, but as she looked into his eyes she loosened a little.
"I'm sorry, I was kinda bitchy just then, I'm just dealing with, you guessed it, my parents." A single tear rolled down her cheek until she smiled a little, and wiped it away. "It's just a lot for me, so I'm running away from my problems." She laughed at herself, "I'm so fucking pathetic."
"Hey, you're not pathetic, trust me I'm running away from mine too." He looked at her, and saw someone who was struggling just as much as he was. He wanted to talk to her and see what she was dealing with, what she wanted and a whole lot more.
She looked at him and saw a new companion, she doesn't even know the boys name but he accepted her right away. She saw someone she wanted to get to know. And she knew that's just what would happened.
