chapter 5

❖Matt POV❖

I woke up and Kenzie wasn't there. I heard the shower running so she is probably in the shower. I checked my phone and I had 4 messages from my mom telling me that I have to come home yesterday and 2 from an unknown ID.. I opened my moms. I have to leave right now. I found a piece of paper and a pen and wrote that I have to leave. I left and told my mom the story. I only got grounded for 2 hours. I don't even know why I am grounded just for 2 hours. It's stupid I know. My mom always has to find out a punishment. I opened up the unknown ID's text and it read:

unknown: i know you want me.. you will soon haha it is either you or your best friend... haha xoxo

I didn't text back because I didn't want anyone getting hurt. I want to ask out Kenz but I can't. I just can't. It's too early.

❀Mackenzie POV❀

I like Matthew a lot. I want to ask him out but.. it's too early.. why does it have to be early?? He probably doesn't like me back tho. All of my friends have boyfriends. Like its no joke. And I am here like a nobody. I walked out of the bathroom and Matt was gone but there was a note on the bed.

It read: I am sorry I am leaving early but don't worry I still love you (: bestfriend. Ps. I think I am grounded. I will text you as soon as I can. Tomorrow is Monday but we don't have to go if we don't want to. So I am like on summer vacation I guess..

me: hey are you going to school tomorrow?

I haven't got a response for 1hr & 30mins. He usually has his phone when he is grounded. Is he with another girl? I will check his Instagram. I looked at his profile and it said Taken by Mary. My heart dropped. I started tearing up. I cried my mascara was running and Matt texted me.

Matt: hey (:

I decided not to read it. I texted Trevor.

me: Trevor wanna go out with me?
Trevor: sure (:
me: okay come over (:
Trevor: (: ok

I am excited I have always liked Trevor from 1st to 6th. Then I stopped liking him because he was dating my bestfriend. Well I am going into 10th grade and I hope Matt will be in all my classes. So I heard a knock on my door and I said "one sec." I went on Instagram and put in my bio: Taken By Trevor ❤️.

"okay come in!" I said. So he walked in and he looked much hotter than he was in 9th grade.

"u-uh h-hi" I stuttered.

"h-hi M-Mackenzie" he smirked. I slapped him playfully. My phone was buzzing like crazy. It was Matt calling me. I decided not to answer it. I looked on Instagram and I looked on Matt's profile. It says single. Why did I take this so serious? I mean I do like Matt and Trevor a lot! I am just confused.

"so how have you been the last year?" Trevor asked.

"good. you?" I asked.

"same.." he said.

We stared at each other's eyes and we leaned in and we were about to kiss but my phone started buzzing again. This time I decided to answer it.

me: what?
Matt: wanna hangout?
me: aren't you supposed to be with your girlfriend.? (I pretended I didn't know he broke up with her) I hung up.

"what was that all about?" Trevor asked.

"oh n-nothing" I smiled.

"okay wanna go to the park.?" Trevor asked.

"yea. let's go." I said.

***AT THE PARK***

I ran to the swings and Trevor was pushing me on them. I saw a couple walking and it looked like Matt. It was Matt. He was holding hands with Miranda. That's Samantha's bestfriend. He kissed her on the cheek. My heart dropped. Matt looked over and smiled and when he saw Trevor his smile faded instantly and he dropped his mouth. Miranda was my bestfriend until she met Samantha. Miranda waved and smiled. That was weird. I have her number so I will text her.

me: are u still friends with Sam?
Miranda: no she is a drama queen.
me: you got that right.
Miranda: she started being mean to me just because I was still friends with you. long story 😂
me: okay 😂
Miranda: hey um do you wanna hangout tomorrow?
me: will Matt be there?
Miranda: no he sad he has to do something tomorrow.
me: okay (: see you then
Miranda: okay bye (:

"Hey Trevor I have to go home, I forgot all about I had to do my chores I am gonna get in trouble..!" I said serious.

"okay want me to help?" Trevor asked.

"no , that's okay but thanks for asking" I said. He started walking home and so did I I saw Matt leave and I didn't stop to talk to him of anything.

"Hey Kenz!" I heard a voice call. I ignored it. I heard someone getting closer and closer. I saw my house and I just walked straight up my driveway.

"Kenz wait!!" Matt's voice called again. I ignored again.

I walked up to my room and just plopped on the bed. I feel bad for ignoring Matt. I mean we weren't dating but.. I don't know why I am jealous. I got a text. It was from Miranda.

Miranda: I broke up with Matt.
me: why?
Miranda: idk he was kinda boring 😂 he wouldn't go anywhere
me: oh.. 😂
Miranda: yeah . so we are still hanging out tomorrow after school right?
me: totally.
Miranda: okay

So I decided to take a shower. I picked out some comfy clothes and went into my bathroom and turned on the shower and took off my clothes and hopped in. I got out about 10 minutes later and I brushed my hair and put on my nike sweatpants and a tank top and I decided not to dry my hair because I was too lazy. I plopped on my bed and turned on my tv and I got a call from Matt. I picked up.

Matt- "hey I am sorry for ignoring you lately I was with Miranda.."
me- "it's okay.."
Matt- "okay wanna hangout tomorrow after school?"
me- "I can't I am hanging out with Miranda. but you can come over now.."
Matt- "okay"

I hung up. I got a little happy. I looked in the mirror and I looked a little bad. I decided to dry my hair. I put it in a side braid and put on a little bit of mascara. I heard a knock on my door and I turned off my bathroom light and I went to open the door. It was Matt. I smiled and hugged him really tight.

"I missed you" I said.

"I missed you to Kenz" he said.

"I'm sorry for ignoring you Matt I don't know why I was so mad." I giggled.

"no, it's okay I deserved to be ignored once or twice." he said. I giggled. My phone vibrated. It was a text from Trevor.

Trev: Hey Mackenzie I am sorry but I need to break up with you I am sorry.

I locked my phone and stared at the ground and tears started falling from my eyes.

"what's wrong?" Matt asked.

"nothing, it's just Trevor broke up with me." I said crying more.

❖Matt's POV❖

I can't stand seeing Kenz like this. I pulled Kenz into my chest and hugged her real tight. I also rubbed her back.

"it's okay. it's goin to be fine." I whispered.

"okay. thanks for making me feel better Matt." she said.

"anytime babe." I said. She blushed. I laughed.

"what?" she giggled.

"nothing.." I laughed.

"whoa it's already 11:34pm I gotta go we have our last day of school tomorrow. I don't want to be tired tomorrow.." I laughed.

As he walked out the door he turned off my light. I soon fell in a deep sleep.
