"Last night was great." Liane said as she tied her hair into a bun.
"It was, but I have to get to work, Li." I button up my white shirt and look at the time, "I'm running late anyway."
She groaned.
"You never get to spend time with me. Every since you inherited the business, it's like I'm just a bootycall to you." She rolled her eyes.
"That is what we agreed to. Just me and you fooling around with no strings attached." I tied my Steve Madden dress shoes.
"Vince, you knew one of us catching feelings was bound to happen, it just happened to be me."
I sighed heavily. I had no feelings for Liane none whatsoever, but I hated making her feel bad.
"I'll come by later on tonight. We can just chill then, good?" I promised.
"Good." She grinned from ear to ear.
...
By the time I went home to get cleaned up and got to work, I was an hour late. When I came into my office, Angel was already there working.
"Good morning." I said as I sat my briefcase down.
"Good morning, Mr. Carter."
Every time he called me that, my dick jumped.
"I prepared your coffee for you." He pointed at the cup of coffee on my desk.
"Thank you, Angel." I sit down and open my laptop to begin working, "Have we closed the deal with the Duncans?"
"Yes sir. We now control 48% of their assets."
Where has this man been all my life?
"I'm glad to know I can count on you to close deals for me, Angel. My deal closure rate has went up 7% since you've been here."
"T-Thank you, Mr. Carter." He blushed.
"We should go out to lunch today. How does that sound?"
He never looked away from his computer.
"Sounds g-good."
"What did I say about stuttering?" I scolded him.
"Not t-to— Not to do it." He said carefully, "We have a meeting at 10:15, sir."
"I hav-"
There were two knocks on my door before it opened, Clark and Liane come in.
"Sorry to bother you, love. You left this at my house last night." She handed me my wallet.
Shit.
"Thanks, Liane." I said with a forced smile.
Angel's facial expression was unreadable. Here I am tryna get with him but I'm still messing with Liane.
"Who's this?" She asked as she pointed at Angel.
I cleared my throat, "That's my new assistant, Angel."
"That name suits you. You're very handsome." Liane just stared at Angel as if she was mesmerized.
"Thank you." Angel smiled at her.
"What time are you coming over tonight?" She turned her attention back to me.
"Maybe seven."
"Okay, I'll be ready. See you later, Vince." She left back out of my office, closing the door.
"I didn't know you had a girlfriend." Angel said lowly.
"I don't. She's just someone I fuck from time to time."
"It doesn't matter. You could've told me that before you kissed me and started taking me out to lunch all the time." He snapped bitterly.
"Ang-"
"Just leave me alone and let me finish working out this contract."

I couldn't believe Mr. Carter. Why would he kiss me knowing that he was talking to someone else? I'm glad I didn't get catch any feelings for him, because my feelings would've been hurt.
Once I finished my work, I went to lunch by myself. As I made my way towards the elevator, I saw Clark on it.
"You've been ignoring me." I say to Clark as I got on the elevator.
"What makes you think that?" He clears his throat.
"You haven't talked to me since the banquet, you haven't asked me to lunch since either." I gripped my coffee cup.
"Oh." He said in a smug tone.
"If it's about me and Mr. Carter kissing then I'm sorry. I wasn't intending on kissing him, it hadn't even crossed my mind before that night. When I tried to pull away, he kept ki-"
"I like you. Okay, Angel?" He blurted out.
"I didn't know that until the banquet. I'm sorry I didn't figure it out sooner."
"Just seeing you and Vince together made my blood boil and I just knew that I had feelings for you. I'm sorry about ignoring you, I was just in my feelings."
"It's okay, I understand where you're coming from."
The elevator dinged.
"Lunch?" Clark asked.
"Where we headed?" I responded, putting a smile on his face.
