"I'm seeing fewer cancerous cells than last time so the radiation is working." Doctor Kent said as he put his stethoscope around his neck, "Breathing is improving as well. Give it two more months and you'll be in remission."

I smiled as the doctor talked to my mother. Knowing that her condition was getting better was good, but I know not to get my hopes up knowing she could have a setback at any moment.

"That's great." My mama said as she stood up, a big smile on her face.

"Just keep the stress at a minimum and you're good."

Ma thanked him and we left out the hospital. When we got in the car, Ma was still smiling.

"Mama's getting better baby."

I couldn't help but smile with her as I crunk the car up.

"Adonis contacted me yesterday. He asked how you and the girls were doing." She said, referring to me and my sisters' sperm donor.

"After ten years, hm. What brought about such a thing?"

"He told me that things went left with him and that young girl he was with, and that he shouldn't have left you guys behind for her."

"He's ten years late. We're doing just fine without him." I glanced over at Ma and she was in deep thought. "Ma?"

"Huh? Sorry baby, I was just thinking."

We rode in silence for a little bit before I broke it.

"Are you considering letting him come back?"

"Not entirely. That's something I want to let you and the girls decide. I don't want to allow him to come back into our lives because he might decide to leave again, but at the same time the girls need their father and so do you."

I pulled up at a stop sign.

"I think that's something we all have to sit down and discuss." I admitted.

I blame him for some of the things I had to go through when he left. The sexual abuse I was put through by Tray and Tevin could've been avoided if he just... stayed. If he had've stayed, I wouldn't have done the disgusting things I had to do just to feed my family.

A few months ago, I had spent my entire check on the rent and Ma's chemotherapy. I only had two dollars and a few cents left from my check, which wasn't enough to buy my family something to eat.
