"What was so important that you had to tell me this early in the morning? And blindfold me?" I said to Imani as she held my hand to guide me.
"Just hush, Angel. We're almost there."
After a few more steps, we came to a complete stop. Imani removed the blindfold off my eyes amd I opened my mouth in shock.
There was a beautiful, black Audi parked right in my driveway. Mr. McKinley leaned on the door with a smirk.

"What's going on, Pop?" I asked.
Mr. McKinley tossed me the car keys, making me tear up.
"Imani told me that you have been having troubles with your car. I knew you wouldn't tell me so I bought this for you."
I ran my hands through my hair trying to fight back the tears but they came out anyway. I pulled Mr. McKinley into a bear hug.
"Thank you so much, Pop." I cried on his shoulder.
"You're welcome, son."

You couldn't tell me nothing as I pulled up at school in my new whip. All eyes were on me and my beautiful car, which I named Raven. I adjusted my bag over my shoulder as Will walked up to me.
"We exchanged numbers for what? You don't even text me." He frowned.
"Will with my job and homework, I don't have time to socialize much."
"I see you had time to buy a new car."
"My dad bought me this." I said referring to Mr. McKinley.
Everybody knew that I always referred to Mr. McKinley as Dad or Pop. He has always been here for me. Every since my dad bailed out, Mr. McKinley stepped in and did the best he could do for me. He was at every Donuts With Dads, every awards program, every field trip. Whenever I needed lunch money, he always provided it for me.
Even now when I try to be independent, he still has my back. Even when I didn't want him to, he started paying the house note for me, my sister's ballet fee, and Mackenzie's daycare. I was forever grateful for him.
