"Are you-"
"Li, if you ask me if I'm sure I'm alright to leave one more time, I'm going to kick you in the balls love," Louis interrupts.
Liam shuts up immediately, sheepishly handing Louis the various personal items that had accumulated on his infirmary bedside table over the last few days.
Louis takes them, placing them in a box to carry back to his room, and plants a soft kiss on Liam's lips as an apology. He doesn't mean to be irritable, he just really needs to get out of this room and he's reassured everyone a thousand times already.
Liam flicks the older lad's nose playfully when they pull away, letting him know there's no hard feelings. He knows he's been a pain in the arse today, he's just a bit nervous about coming out to the lads later.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" Louis asks, practically reading Liam's mind.
"Yeah, of course I do," Liam mumbles.
"Li, honesty time, are you having second thoughts?"
Liam sighs, taking Louis's face in his hands, staring into his blue eyes. "I'm not having second thoughts, I promise. I'm just nervous."
Louis rubs his hands across Liam's chest, knowing it soothes the boy. "They're still gonna love you Li," he reassures softly.
Liam just nods his head. "But will they love us? Together?"
"Yes, because we're happy," Louis says, pulling the boy in for a kiss.
They couldn't spend the day together, Liam having to return to his regular schedule and Louis having to complete his final day in the infirmary being assessed by the center's physicians and Arrigo. He found himself missing the younger lad terribly, laughing at himself when he realized he was literally counting the hours until he saw Liam again.
Liam wasn't fairing any better. By the time dinner rolled around, he had arranged for Zayn and the lads to meet them in his room and managed to inhale his food fast enough to make even Niall proud, just to have a few minutes alone with Louis again. Not being able to bring flowers, Liam stopped by the kitchen to knick a fruit cup for Louis, the kind with the strawberries that he knew Louis loved even though the boy always complained about them.
"You ready to go?" Liam asks as he enters the infirmary.
Louis's face lights up when he sees his boyfriend standing in the doorway, and it nearly stops Liam's heart.
"What are you doing here? I thought we were meeting in your room," Louis asks, not bothering to contain his massive smile.
Liam shrugs, handing Louis his fruit cup. "I wanted to give you this." He pulls the older lad in for a deep kiss. "And this."
"You're a saint Batman," Louis grins, popping a strawberry in his mouth.
Liam chases the fruit with his tongue until Louis is pushing him away, giggling uncontrollably. Louis loves how much bolder the lad has become over the past few days, no longer the timid little thing that would spook at sudden movements.
"What would you do if I stuck one in my pants?" Louis asks seductively, a mischievous glint in his eye.
Liam gulps, turning beet red. His eyes trail down Louis's body slowly, stopping at the boy's crotch. Louis smirks as he watches Liam pull at the collar of his shirt. He loves that the boy has become bolder, but he really loves that he can still make that blush spread from Liam's face all the way to his chest.
Louis walks up to Liam slowly, placing his hands on the boy's chest. The boy is breathing heavily, heart beating fast. Liam is slightly taller than Louis, so he has to stand on his toes to bring the boy's lower lip in between his own. Louis sucks until he hears Liam moan, and he knows he'll go to boyfriend hell for what he's about to do next.
