When the puff of white cloud left my vision, I was exactly in the same spot. Still in the ballroom with the piano in front of me. But there were more people in the room. Alexandru wasn't playing the piano, a musician was, along with a small band. The room was not silver like I was used to, it was lit up with a gold glow. The women around me were dressed in extravagant dresses and the men were dressed in black suits. No one seemed surprised by my presence. I stepped in front of someone but they walked right through me. I must be in a dream or something.

"Hello darling," I knew that voice! I turned around back towards the piano and musicians only to discover the Count with a beautiful woman in his arms. "How are you liking the party?" He asked his lover.

"Oh Alex, it's beautiful." Answered the blond woman. She wore a gold silk gown and had a British accent. A man came up to them and asked for the count's attention.

Alexandru went with him and I followed.

What year is it?

The vampire came over and joined a small group of men.

"Tell us Count, how did you come across such a treasure as you did being a doctor?" Asked one of the gentlemen.

"Yes, how does a doctor have a palace such as this?" One egged on.

"Come, young man," the one who led him over to the group put his hand on Alexandru's shoulder.

"How old are you again?"

"Simply too young to be a doctor for sure." Now everyone was blubbering in a circle. I looked at Alexandru and I could feel how overwhelmed he had suddenly become.

"Please, gentlemen, allow me to explain."

The main man then whispered in the count's ear. "We know who you are and what you are." I didn't know I could have heard them but I did. Then I heard shuffling coming from a distance. I turned to the sound and saw the woman from earlier coming over. How can I hear her from such a distance?

I turned my attention back to the men. So they know that Alexandru is a vampire.

"You wouldn't want us to ruin your party now would you." The man kept whispering in Alexandru's ear. "Please, come outside and we can go over this smoothly with some hunters."

"I'm sorry gentlemen but you have the wrong man." The vampire lied. Suddenly one of the men that hadn't spoken came quickly up to Alexandru pulling a silver steak from the breast pocket of his coat. He stabbed it into the count's chest, blood sinking into the white shirt. Gasps were heard around the room and someone screamed. I was a bit shocked at never seeing such violence being displayed in front of me.

Alexandru just stared at his chest. He gave a smirk to his colleagues. "You really thought that that would work? You gentlemen read too much. Best to check your facts before going and doing something stupid." He said allowing his fangs to be seen by everyone. I thought silver stakes through the heart killed vampires?

"Alex?" Alexandru turned around quickly only to find his beloved standing in horror. "This ... it can't be true."

"Marishka," Alexandru couldn't find anything to say that would clear his name.

"You're a ... a vampire?!" She looked saddened and horrified. "It's been you, hasn't it, killing innocent people all around Europe."

"No, Marishka listen, please." Suddenly the doors to the ballroom burst open and a large group of men came storming in. They wore long, trench coats with cowboy hats. They all looked rugged and terrifying. I guessed that those were the hunters that were talked of earlier.

"Well, well, well, if it isn't the famous Dracula." The head of the gang said. "Tell her Count, tell her how you slaughtered and tore those humans apart, sucking them dry."

Marishka put a hand over her mouth and began to cry. Alexandru went to comfort her but she jerked away.

"Don't touch me! You monster!"

"No!" Alexandru said, trying to defend himself. The tension in the large space made the ballroom feel like it was closing in on me. Alexandru turned to the hunters with rage on his face. His fangs seemed to have grown and his fingers were twitching with his claws ready to pounce. "I haven't done anything wrong! I've already caught your culprit, why come here and terrorize me!"

"We know who you speak of Dracula, but you see, we traced you as the man who gave that foolish boy his demonic powers." The head hunter answered. The cigar he had in his mouth he grabbed out and tapped the ashes on the polished checkered dance floor. "You may not be a threat to the people in here but you are a threat to the world, and mankind. Say goodbye to your beloved, you die tonight."

Like slow motion, everyone stopped moving, except for Alexandru, he just walked right up to the hunter while pulling the steak from his heart and jabbing it into the hunter's own heart. Then, everything went back to moving like normal and everyone gasped at the count's sudden action.

"No, it's you who dies tonight. I hope you said your goodbyes to your family." And just like that the hunter fell to the floor in a heap, the vampire pulling the steak from the man's chest.

Every hunter began attacking Alexandru with swords, pistols, crossbows, knives. He swiftly dodged all their strikes and swings. Watching him was the coolest fight scene I had ever seen. Time would stop then speed back up.

The down part of the scene though, was watching my host break limbs and rip necks out. The crowd of people were running for the doors. Running around the bloody scene taking place.

Once all the hunters were dead, there was no one left in the ballroom. Alexandru fell to his knees into a puddle of blood. I began to make my way to him a bit hesitant to walk among the dead bodies. My feet didn't make a trickle of blood move. I knelt down right in front of Alexandru, ready to comfort him if he needed it. Though he may be a stranger, I could feel the love he needed; the love he yearned for.

Alexandru grabbed the arm of one of the dead bodies and dragged it toward him. He then sunk his sharp fangs into the wrist.

I could just feel the hunger burning within him. I even felt hungry myself. He must have been eating human food for a while and occasionally animal blood. I could see red come to his face as he drank the man clean.

He finally stopped and sat back on his heels. I then heard someone breathing hard, and a heartbeat pumping fast. Alexandru's ear twitched and he and I both looked in the same direction; behind him. Marishka was standing with a petrified look upon her face. Alexandru stood slowly. He flung his hand into the air and I saw a spark of purple smoke come from his fingertips. In the distance I heard the slam of a large door and guests screaming. He must have slammed the front doors on them.

"You're not thinking about killing me are you?" She asked, her voice breaking. Alexandru looked at the dead bodies around him. Then time froze again and he walked up to his beloved. He moved his hand over her eyes and more purple smoke came from his hand.

Then, a white cloud covered my vision once more, and I was back in the present when it cleared away.
