Last Chapter Told In Alexandru's POV

Enjoy

I've been wanting to kiss that girl for the longest time. Of course, at first when I began to have feelings for the young girl I kept denying them because I knew how tabu the idea of her being ten years younger than me was.

But I truly think I found her. The one. The one to break this stupid curse I gave myself.

I tried to tell her through my memories and Octavian's but she seems to be oblivious.

But she has to be the one! If only I had the ability to tell her.

The moment I laid eyes on her I knew.

I was out hunting when I noticed three hikers on an off-roading trail. I didn't think anything of it until my eyes rested on the youngest hiker. Her pack was bigger than her and she looked so worn down by the weight of it. Suddenly something inside me drew me to her. I can't exactly explain the feeling but I felt like catching breath that I didn't have. I flew to her and froze the scene. I stood in front of her and studied her. She had two strands of braided brunette hair and pale brown eyes. There was nothing special about her. She was quite ordinary. But the beating of a heart was absent when I needed it the most. Out of all the women I had ever been with, I had never felt this way.

I quickly flew away in a flock of bats because the situation was becoming too uncanny. But right as I did, I heard ruble sliding, dirt dropping, then ... screams. I turned about and watched the hikers all fall to their deaths. I flew above them and watched the girl fall away from her parents. I ignored where her parents flung to but I watched her. She soon stopped in a grove of trees and I flew down to her. Thunder echoed far away and I knew it would be a wet night. I looked down at the unconscious girl and had the urge to pick her up and take care of her, but I knew I shouldn't. I was done meddling with humans and their lives. Besides, what significance does this girl have on me anyway?

I left.

I was hungry.

I wasn't going to waste time on a small insignificant life.

It began raining.

I went back to my castle and just watched the scenery through my giant picture windows in my ballroom.

Suddenly—from miles away—there came screaming and more tumultuous rumbling of something sliding and falling.

I quickly flew to the screams and found the girl lying unconscious once more but farther down the hill. If only I had lights on in the castle she could have seen it. I know her parents fell the opposite direction from here but she was most likely trying to get back to town.

Smart girl.

I watched her until she woke up. She looked half dead as she was mangled in dirt and branches. She no longer had her pack with her either.

Her breathing began to slow down. She was dying.

The same feeling from earlier came. I had to help her—no, I needed to help her. But why?

Why do I feel so drawn to this young human?

I stepped forward, ignoring her glossy eyes gazing back at me, and carried her to my castle.
