Never Be Pretty

Some say that beauty only goes skin deep

And this is what they believe

But I could never understand

Why this was their stand

I mean just look around you

At what all these people go through

They go thought these situations

And they come out and people act like they hate them

They have earned these scars

And all of these people are

Stronger than we could imagine

Braver than we could fathom

So why do we make them a mockery

Tell them they'll never be pretty

These people are the most beautiful

These are the ones we've pulled

They've pulled themselves out of places

That we regard with hatred

They've come from battles-

You don't see them getting whistles and cat-calls

So why do we love it when we are envied

When we should be striving for that kind of beauty

The beauty that comes from not knowing

What will happen next but still living

Still living and still striving to be the best they can be

Even when the world tells them they'll never be pretty.
