Super Sister

Chapter 10

Kara, Alex, and Nova piled in the back of the black van. Mike was on a stretcher and Eliza was watching over him. There were three men dressed in black watching them. Kara was getting really worried about Mike, she moved so the was close to him. She took his hand and held it tight. When the van stopped. One of the men, a mean looking dark skinned man, ushered them out. But Kara refused to let go of Mike's hand. Two other people dressed in black joined Eliza, they wheeled Mike down the long hallways. Kara didn't leave Mike's side until they got to a room with a glass wall, a hospital bed and lots of big machines in it. One of the men forced Kara to let go of Mike's hand and kept her outside while they worked on Mike.

Kara watched Eliza prepare a needle, she put it up against the skin on his inner elbow. But when she tried to inject it, the needle broke. She was surprised and she looked at Kara. She made a motion to the man next to Kara and he seized Kara's arm. Kara let herself be pulled away by the man because she was in shock. Questions raced through her head, she couldn't process everything at once and she felt overwhelmed. The man dropped her off in a room that had a long table and a bunch of chairs around it. Nova and Alex were already there and they pulled her into a hug. Kara cried into their arms.

Kara, Alex, and Nova waited in the room until Eliza and Jeremiah walked in and sat down across from them. They explained everything. How they lied about being scientists and they truly worked at the DEO to help protect aliens. Then Eliza told them about Mike. They found out that he was having an alergic reaction to the lead bullet, and that he is actually a Daxemite. Kara's eyes grew wide and Nova's head perked up.

"We called his parents and they are on their way" Eliza finished.

"Can I go see him?" Kara asked.

"We need to do surgery first, but after we're done you can go see him." Eliza said. Kara nodded. Eliza and Jeremiah left and The three girls were alone in the room. No one knew what to say. Nova put her arms on the table and rested her head. Alex rubbed her back. Kara pulled her knees up to her chest and rested her chin on her knees. After about 20 minutes, the door to the room opened, all three girls looked up. A man and a woman walked in. The man was tall and built, with light brown hair. The woman was shorter and she had black hair. They looked at the three girls, the woman looked at Kara.

"You must be Kara" she said. Kara nodded, "Mike never stops talking about you." She smiled.

"Are you his adoptive mother?" Kara asked.

"Yes. My name is Sarah, this is my husband, Vince." Kara stood up and shook their hands.

"Um, this is Alex and Nova. My sisters." Kara said. They stood up as well and shook Sarah and Vince's hands. Thet all sat back down and made small talk until Eliza walked in.

"The surgery went well. We had to expose him to small amounts of lead so that we could insert needles and such, but otherwise he will be fine." Eliza said.

"Can we see him?" Vince asked. Eliza nodded. Sarah and Vince got up and left the room.

"You can see him when they're done, Kara" Eliza added reassuringly. Mara nodded.

Some time later, Vince came back and told Kara that she could see Mike. Kara got up and walked over to the room where he was. When she got there she sat on a stool that was next to his bed. He looked up at Kara. His face was pale and droopy and he looked tired. He could see from her expression that she knew. He looked down.

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you. I thought you would think I was weird and neglect me." Mike said weakly.

"No, Mike. I understand. I'm Kryptonian." Kara said. Mike looked up in surprise but his face fell.

"You must hate me." A tear slipped from his cheek.

"Mike, you aren't where you came from. I know our planets didn't get along but-"

"You don't understand" Mike interrupted, "My real name is Mon-el Gand." Kara's eyes widened. She knew that name. Mon-el Gand, prince of Daxam. She opened her mouth to speak but no words came out.

A tear slipped down Mike's cheek, "you hate me. I knew it" he mumbled to himself. Kara wanted to say something, anything. But she couldn't talk. He not only came from a planet of partiers and slobs, but he ruled it. A tear ran down Kara's cheek.

"I-I need to go." Kara stammered, she walked out into the hallway. She walked down a hallway and sat down against a wall. She thought back to the time that Mike and her spent together. The thought and time he put into their relationship was not what a stereotypical Daxamite would do. He cared about her, genuinley. She couldn't give that away. Kara knew that she needed to tell him how she felt. She got up and ran back down the hallway. She got back to his room and he was crying.

Kara ran into his room and sat on his bed. Then she cupped his face in her hands and kissed him. Mike was taken off guard and pulled back, "Stop. You don't have to do this." His tired vioce creaked.

"Mike or, Mon-el, whoever!" She stammered. "I care about you. I want to be with you. I know that you came from a planet that wasn't very good but you've changed. You're kind and caring and you make me so happy." Kara blabbered. Mike's mouth was half open in shock. Kara blushed. "I'm sorry I-"

"Just shut up and kiss me." Mike said, and he pulled Kara closer to him and kissed her. Kara started to cry, Mike pulled back and wiped her tears away. After a moment she got off his bed and sat on the stool next to him.

They talked for a few minutes. But Mike started to get tired, and eventually he dozed off. Kara put her arm on his bed and rested her head on top of it. With the other hand, she drew circles on the back of Mike's hand.

Nova sat back in her chair. Why are we still here! She thought. Alex was texting someone on her phone. Nova wished she had a phone. Nova stood up and headed for the door.

"Where are you going?" Alex asked.

"On an adventure" Nova said as she reached for the handle.

"No no no you aren't" Alex stood up and walked over to Nova.

"But I'm bored!" Nova whined. Alex took a deep breath.

"Fine," Alex said, "but, I'm coming too." Nova smiled and opened the door.

"Let's sneak around!" Nova said. Alex laughed and they quickly walked down the hallway. They opened various doors, most led to rooms like the one they waited in. So they went down to the first floor and looked around there. They opened a door that led into a big grey room.

"Where are we?" Nova asked.

"No idea" Alex said. She walked around the room. There was a control table at the other side of the room. Nova walked over and saw that it had a bunch of differant coloured buttons on it. She pressed a blue button. A loud sound came from somewhere and Alex and Nova looked at each other with wide eyes.

Suddenly, three silver balls flew at them from no where. Nova and Alex ran to each other.
