REMUS LUPIN ARRIVED AT THE BENNETT household around noon at the end of June with flowers in hand. After several letter exchanges and constant communication over the past couple weeks, Estella had managed to convince her father to let her stay at the Lupins for two weeks.
Edward Bennett, now more invested in his daughter's life than ever, insisted that she invited Remus over early in the day so that he could join them for a nice lunch and he could get to know him more. Her father hadn't actually formally met Remus as he had always been busy with work. Yet, now he was determined to be more involved as Edward and Estella had grown closer.
The only problem was keeping next-door neighbor, James Potter, away from the house. Remus and Estella had decided that while they were trying to figure out how their relationship, they wanted to keep the lads out of it. That meant Estella had lied to James about where she would be for two weeks. He thought Estella was staying with Lily Evans. It was fool proof plan because in what world would Lily ever write James back.
Estella couldn't help the grin that came across her face when she opened her front door to find Remus Lupin with his sweet smile and flowers in hands. She practically launched herself into his arms.
"I missed you," She whispered, her arms around the taller boy's neck.
Remus held her tightly against him, sighing happily,"I missed you too," He murmured back, pressing a light kiss to her cheek before they pulled away. He glanced down at Estella, admiring the pretty summer dress she wore. She always went shopping with Lily in the summer for dresses."You look amazing, love."
"Are these for me?" Estella pointed to the pink and yellow flowers.
"They are. Mum's been growing them, and I dunno, I thought you might like them. They're pink so of course they reminded me of you," Remus admitted, taking his first step into the house.
Estella blushed purposefully,"I love them," She took the flowers from his hands,"My dad's in the kitchen, cooking. Don't expect the food to be good by the way. Our house elf, Gipsy, usually helps with cooking. She's been trying to teach dad, but honestly, cooking isn't in the Bennett genes."
"I'm sure it will be fine. I've probably have had worse," Remus assured, nervously playing with the hem of his shirt."I don't really have a big appetite anyway."
"I'm nervous too," Estella mentioned, reaching out to intertwine her fingers with his."He's excited to meet you, though. He's only met James and Sirius, but we all talk about you all the time, so he's ready to meet the famous Remus Lupin."
Remus rolled his eyes at the mention of Sirius meeting Edward, and Estella knew he was still a little jealous about the whole date debacle last year.
"I bet Sirius loved meeting him, Quidditch fan and all," He murmured,"I barely know anything about Quidditch."
"That's great, actually. That means he'll try to explain it to you and he'll get excited about it," Estella assured him, leading him into the kitchen.
In the kitchen was Edward Bennett dressed in one of his old Puddlemere United shirts and a pair of muggle jeans. He had dark hair and he hadn't shaved in awhile. It was obvious to tell he was an athlete by his fit build.
