{Josh's POV}
••••Tyler was acting weird, looking around constantly as if he was expecting someone, or something. He told me about his childhood, it was pretty bad. If that happened to me, I have no idea how I would cope. Luckily for me I was raised in a loving home. I looked to the frail boy beside me, his eyes wide with something. An emotion that I'm not familiar with. I have to be honest, Tyler's imaginary friend; Blurryface, thought I was hiding something.
It's hard for me to lie, but for some reason lying to Tyler is even harder than I thought. I know he didn't believe me. I'm just not ready for anyone to know, especially Tyler. It scares me, the power that I'm connected with. It scares me to no end.
I was jolted from my thoughts when I heard Tyler say something. "What?"
"Oh nothing. I thought I heard something that's all." Was his reply, but he was on full alert.
"M'kay." I rubbed my arms. Wherever we are is really chilly, though for some reason it feels like it dropped ten degrees. I shivered a little and thought about my Mom and Dad. What if they never saw me again? Someone tapped my shoulder I looked up and saw Tyler. There was something different about him. I couldn't pinpoint it, but there was definitely something different going on. "Josh. Blurry is here. We gotta follow him. He'll get us out.""Are you sure?" I looked around. I couldn't see anybody, it was just Tyler and I.
I for one do not trust Blurryface.
"Yeah. I'm sure." Tyler said with confidence. He held out his hand to me and I took it. He led me in the dark. I sighed. How could he possibly see where we are going? It's dark and there's no lights, but Tyler continued to walk.
All of a sudden, there was a light, it glowed bright white. "Don't worry," Tyler said softly, "We have to cross multiple realms. It won't hurt."
He stood in front of the light as it leaked through. It was hard to look at it directly. At first there was just a vertical line of light but it grew to look like a door. Tyler stepped through it, he looked absolutely fearless. I on the other hand, felt like a tiny kitten in the presence of a wolf. I was terrified. I closed my eyes and walked through the doorway of light and after a few seconds I cracked one eye open and then the other. Unlike the other realm this one was white. It wasn't scary and dark. There was a shimmering silver sea. "It takes a bit for your eyes to adjust." I heard Tyler say. He was right, cause after a little while I noticed colors filtering in. I heard Tyler laugh as his hand closed my jaw. I hadn't even realized my mouth was hanging open like I was a dolt. "Am I in heaven?"
Tyler giggled, "No."
"Then where am I?" I took in my surroundings.
"Hmm." Tyler paused and stared in the air, "Its a holding place for good spirits. Not Heaven per se, but close enough for those whom have not passed on.""What does that mean for us?" I looked at my feet. Here it was beautiful even the shimmering sands where beautiful and refracted rainbow colors, but I was suddenly so sad. Tyler was quiet, I thought he hadn't heard me, but I heard a quiet voice say, "I could stay here forever." I looked at him, he looked happy and at peace. On earth (or maybe we are still on earth I don't know), he looked tortured and sad.
But what about me? I have a life, I have school and friends and family and a job, how can I stay?
"We are most likely in a coma." Tyler's voice rang through my selfish thoughts.
"What? I thought you said they wouldn't find our bodies."
"I was wrong. Blurryface said they took our bodies to the hospital."
I sighed in relief, we would get help."Josh." Tyler said softly.
"Yeah?" I looked at him.
"If the chance to come out of this coma presents itself, I won't be coming with you. I'm staying here." Tyler smiled.
I felt something warm trail my face, "Why?" I brushed it away, I realized it was tears. I look at my hand, my teardrop glittered rainbow and disappeared.
"Josh," Tyler sighed and ran his fingers through his hair, "Earth is torturous for me, I'm just a wimp and wasn't able to end it all. But I don't want to go back. It's too hard. The voices, Master, the seclusion. It drives me batty."
I looked down, I didn't want Tyler to see me cry. Why was I crying anyway? I barely knew him, I asked myself and came up with the answer, I care about him.
"Oh! Josh! Please don't cry!" I heard Tyler say and felt his arms ingulf me.
"I am okay." I hiccuped. "I'm okay." I caught my breath. Inhale. Exhale. I'm okay. I'm okay.
Tyler rubbed my back and smiled as he looked up. I looked up to see what he was smiling at. I saw small sparkling, rainbow water drops ascend to the clouds. It dawned on me, "Are those my tears." I was jaw slacked once again. "Mhm." Tyler nodded and smiled at me.
"They are so beautiful." I was amazed. As soon as they touched the clouds it was like the clouds rippled and a tiny rainbow was produced."The tortured souls have the most beautiful tears. That's just God saying how he see's your pain."
I got choked up, "H-He thinks it's beautiful?" I knew the answer was yes. He does think it's beautiful.
"Yes!" Tyler's eyes glistened with a beautiful purple and silver tear. It hurt to look at it, it was so beautiful.
"Woah, Tell me more about the tears."
Tyler smiled, "I thought you might want to know more."
"The tears," Tyler explained, "Is God saying, He thinks the messiest parts of yourselves are the most beautiful. God collects all of our tears, you see? Yours are liquid rainbows and rainbows are a promise. I don't know a promise about what though, you probably know."
I smiled through my tears and nodded, "Yes I know the promise, How do you know this?" I asked amazed.
Tyler sighed, "On my second attempt on my life, it almost worked. I had an out of body experience. I met God and I cried. He explained everything to me. I've longed to see Him again."
"Wow!"
"Yeah, I will tell you the story another time." Tyler smiled.
"Okay."
"Okay."
