Chapter 20:
"Ashly!" cried Kara, she rushed towards me with her arms wide, throwing herself on me with a huge loving bear hug.
The Doctor wandered over and inspected my shoulder, where the early signs of a large bruise began to from, making my skin have a blue tint to it.
"How did this happen?" He asked, his eyes furrowing
"Had a bit of a struggle" I turned back towards the two unconscious men lying on the floor, in which Jack immediately ran over and dragged them inside the room and hid them behind the cream leather sofas, he picked up the two guns and put the straps around his shoulders. "We don't have enough time, The Master doesn't know yet about what I am doing, and I would like to be gone before he... Never mind. Look, I sort of know what is happening here, but we have got to go. They have a dozen storage containers literally filled with prisoners, so we need to get them all out and escape. Now" I was quick to explain, but everything felt like it was slow as the desperation to go boiled up inside of me.
I know what I said wasn't much to go on, but I consider my parents and friends professionals in these types of scenarios, and quickly they snapped into concentration mode. Just before we left the room, Martha came up to me and squeezed me elbow with an apologetic smile on her face, I knew what she meant without the dialogue.
Within a few minutes we all were out of the room and they followed me quickly down the corridor, leading them to the balcony where me and the Master were before. It was starting to go darker outside, and the soldiers were beginning to swap over shifts. To the side of the balcony was a telescopic ladder which hadn't been extended, I tried to make it budge but it was too stiff. Jack wandered over to my side, gave me a devilish smile and proceeded to clamber onto the ladder, kicking it a few times until it jolted, almost sending Jack tumbling to the floor, but he managed to hold on as it quickly descended down to about a few metres to the ground. He hopped off and beckoned us all to follow. Donna and Martha went down, followed by Kara, me and the Doctor, I was painfully aware at how much time had passed and the looming thought of The Master almost made me want to ball up and cry. I knew that what he did was because he wanted to protect me, but the thought of that screaming, dying man clogged my memories.
As our feet touched the floor, we all scampered over to hide behind a small unit, making sure that no passing guard could see us. I turned to the others and explained the plan in whispers.
"Ok, I suggest that Jack will go up to the control tower and try to take out the few soldiers in there and open that gate, and Jack, you might die a few times..." I added to him, but he seemed to smile more than usual "Me and the Doctor will go to the storage units and release the prisoners while Kara, Martha and Donna try and start one of those big trucks up to load the people in" I pointed to one of the 6 wheeled army truck with heavy duty armour on the outside, big enough to transport them and the prisoners. They all looked at me with big eyes "I told you before that it is a bad plan, but I didn't have much time to think.."
"No, its ok Ashly, its a plan. But what is to stop Einstern from doing all of this?" Donna asked, she glanced at the Doctor who looked like he was in deep thought. He slapped his forehead.
"AH! Those generators, they power the whole facility! If I can create a feed back loop in the generators, they will colapse and create a chain reaction through out the entire base! Frazzling all their data and machines! It would take them months to get everything back online, and that would be plenty of time for us to stop this once and for all" My Fathers voice rose with excitement, and i tried to motion to him to keep quiet, aware of the soldiers patrolling close by.
"But won't that affect the gate? Will it open when you have killed the generators?" Asked Martha
"No, see look down near the base of the tower, there is a separate smaller generator, specifically for the gate. The gate and the facility run on different frequencies, think it like this, one runs on DC and the other runs on AC" He grinned at his analogy.
