Trust In Love

Part 2

                      (Lani's pov)

   When I got home Landis could tell I was not in the mood to talk. She slowly took the bag from me and put it where its supose to go. There were extra boards of wood for when we made our tree house, so I got to work. Putting it in the windows and making it stay.

   After a long 2 hours or so of working I steped outside to check the perimeter. Everything was good to go, but I went to the garage the 1 place I didn't check. There were animal traps all in here. From small squriel traps, to big hog traps. I should atleast teach Landis.

   "Landis, your coming with me" I say steping back outside. She gave me a look and followed. We went out about half a mile to where I set the first trap. "Ok now what I want you to do is set the corn, then set the trap like I showed you back home." she shook her head and went on. After about a minute she had it.

   "Did I do it right? I did learn from the best!" She said. I laughed, "Yes, yes you did it right" and then we were off to the next one. With the same steps we were done. But I had other plans, I was still thinking if Landis should come with. We walked up the hill and started to hike. "Now, please be quiet, we are setting a special trap" I say.

   When really we were setting a bear trap. There were many up here last winter. I was the one to set this one while Landis stuck to my side. I had a 22 in one hand and the other holding a dead turkey. We set the trap then made it down once we heard something in the bushes.

   "Hey Lani, do you think there are any other survivors out there?" She asked me at dinner. I looked up from my plate and thought of the question. "You know lets keep hope" I said. I didn't like the question so I got up and grabbed my pistol and out the door I went. I had to just go walk in the woods for awhile.

   After a good 30 minutes I felt like someone was watching me. I turned to see nothing but still felt someones pressence. I heard a twig snap and took off to the house. Not realizing if that was a human I was drawing them to the house. I pushed the door open and grabbed Landis turning off the light. She didn't question anything.

   She grabbed the 22 while I had a good grip on the pistol. We waited about 5 minutes before I started to dought what I heard and thought. But as soon as I was about to give up we heard a thud outside and whispering. I gave Landis a glare meaning you move you get us both killed. She shook her head and tensed up. Next thing we knew the door swung open.

   The two people entered the house going down the hallway to us. Right when they passed us we both put them in a head lock. "You move, you die!" I said stepping so they were facing each other. Great now what am I supose to do. "Miss I don't want trouble" the dude Landis had said. "Whats your name?" I asked.

   "Rick, Rick Grimes"
