"It never gets easier. But you get better."~Unknown

Amber

New school, new life. Ready? You have to be. I have to be.

I think as I walk in to my first day of my new school. New state, new city, new school. What city you ask? Los Angeles. As I walk through the doors, I realize I have no idea where I'm going, so I walk down different hallways trying to find the office so I can ask where the new students meet. I start to get a lot of weird and confused stares as I pass groups of students loitering in the hallways. I ignore it, lift my chin a little higher and keep walking, hiding my skepticism and nervousness.

I consider asking someone if they know where I'm supposed to be, but cut the idea out of my mind once I see a sign that says "New and International students meet in Gymnasium". I pull out a map of the school I forgot I had and try and figure out where the Gymnasium is.

As I put the map away, I feel a tap on my shoulder. I turn around and raise an eyebrow questioningly at the boy who tapped my shoulder.

"Hi, I was wondering if you could point me in the direction of the Gymnasium?" he asks.

"I would if I knew where it was." I reply.

"Oh, sorry. Are you new too?"

"Is that obvious?" I raise my eyebrow again and I feel the side of my mouth breaking into a small smile.

The boy laughs and reply's, "No, not at all. You walked with such confidence that anyone could mistake you as anything but a new student."

I chuckle slightly and say, "Thanks, I guess."

"Hey, you wanna find the Gymnasium together?" he asks.

"Sure. Why not?"

He motions for another guy to come over and says,

"This is my brother, Xavier, we're both clueless as to where we're going."

"Well, I'm not much better, so I'm praying we won't be late." I say giving Xavier a small wave.

He gives me a weird glance and looks me up and down. I'm wearing a black leather jacket with sleeves rolled up, white t-shirt, black skirt and black ankle boots with thigh-high black socks. My hair curled and I just left it down. I don't have a lot of makeup on, but some just to accent my features. I realize my outfit might seem a little cheeky, but I literally didn't have anything else to wear. I just moved here and I settled in really late so I didn't have time to unpack.

My stare hardens a bit and I start walking in the direction of the Gymnasium.

"Hey, I never caught your name." he says catching up to me. (Not Xavier, the other one.)

"Amber, and you?" I say holding out a hand to shake.

"I'm Aaron."

The Gymnasium isn't really that crowded, thank goodness. It's a really big gymnasium and there are only about 150 of us. By "us" I mean the international and new students. This is our orientation. We take a seat on the bleacher that have been pulled out as a middle aged man walks out and starts talking.

"Good morning students, I am Principal Grayson. Welcome to West Bridge High. You should have already received your class schedules, student ID's and map of the school. On your class schedule you will also find your homeroom teacher and classroom, your student ID number and computer passwords.
