The idea of moving to New York seemed drastic at first, but the more I thought about it, I wondered how perfect it could truly be. After all, I didn't know what I wanted to do after school. College didn't seem like an option, and I hadn't really found anything I was passionate about.
Moving meant a fresh start, no more names, no more bullies. Moving meant starting fresh, having a clean slate. I didn't see any downsides to it, except for the fact that I had to leave Amy.
"What do you think?" Alex asked, hope shimmering in the depths of her sweet blue eyes.
"Sounds like a plan," I smiled. She hugged me tight and picked me up, swirling me around the room. Giggles escaped my lips, which were then brought down to kiss her.
"As soon as school lets out, we can go. It's the perfect plan."
"Thank god I only have a few more days left," I muttered, "I don't think I could take much more."
"New York will be great. Even better that I'm spending it with you." She leaned down to kiss me once again, and a smile spread from ear to ear. "Plus, our six month anniversary is coming up."
"You think I forgot? How could I have forgotten the most important day?"
"We'll see, we'll see."
"I love you." I said under my breath. It wasn't the first time I had said it to her, but every time I did, it felt like the first.
"I love you too, Sar. I love you too."

I knew our anniversary was coming up-- 6 months of being together-- but I didn't know what to get Alex. I had a feeling anything I got her would be way better than what I could possibly offer. For my birthday, she had gotten me tickets to a Renée Olstead jazz concert, one of my favorite jazz artists. I didn't think another vinyl would cut it this time.
Which brings me to where I am today: shopping endlessly for a gift with Amy.
"What kind of stuff does she like?" She asked, stuffing her hands in her pockets. She wore something casual and comfortable-- cargos, a soccer tee, and her black vans with high black socks. On anyone else, I swear this look would be terrible. But for Amy, it worked.
"She's really into music. You know, vinyls. And art, she loves art. Also a really big fan of Harry Potter."
"Please don't tell me she's on Ravenclaw."
"Hufflepuff."
"What? That's even worse!"
"Oh god, Amy. It doesn't matter what house she's in."
"Um, yeah, it does. This is crucial."
"How so? They're literally the friendliest house. Loyal, kind, hard-working..."
Amy sighed, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear so that her gauge was shown. She always wore one green, one orange-- both neon colors. "I guess if there was anyone I'd want you to be with, it would be a Hufflepuff."

After searching endlessly all over town for a gift, I had picked out a Hufflepuff scarf, a vinyl of the Neighbourhood, and some new art supplies. I know it wasn't much, but I sure hope she likes it.
I was home now, being the subject of yet another one of Alex's paintings. A nude one.
"You told me to paint you like one of my French girls, so I am." She said when I asked her why. I couldn't really argue with that one, so here I was.
I was sprawled across the couch, completely bare. I felt very self conscious, even though Alex has seen me naked countless times. Maybe it was the way she painted every detail so precisely that made my cheeks turn a flaming red.
"Why ya blushing like that? You're beautiful." She tried her best to reassure me, and I tried my best to accept her compliments.
"Oh, shut up. You're only saying that cause you want head later."
"No, you shut up." There were dabs of pain on her forehead and hands, "You're beautiful all the time, whether I want head or not." She gave me a wink before returning to her artwork.
All I could think about was how hot my cheeks were getting, so I tried to change the subject from me to something less embarrassing. "So," I started, "what'd you get me for our 6-months?"
"Now, if I told you, it wouldn't be a surprise."
"Al, you know I hate surprises."
"Stop being stubborn. Can't a girl get her wonderful girlfriend a present and have a little surprise? It only adds to the cuteness factor. It's romantic."
"No, it's annoying. Just tell me."
She walked over to me and gave me a Spider-Man kiss. My head was upside down, and from my perspective, hers was too. "Stop being a cry baby and just wait like a good girl."
I sighed. After all, her kisses had become quite convincing. "Fine. Just know that I'm not too happy about this."
That's when she leaned over to tickle me. She shoved her hands in the crevices of my arm pits, thighs, and toes to make loud yelps escape my lips.
"Alex, stop!" I said through gulps of air and laughter, "You're crazy!"
"Hm, you're right about that one. Crazy in love with you."
I looked up at her with doe eyes. "That was cheesy as fuck, and you know it."
"Don't act like you don't think it's cute, regardless of the cheesiness level."
I couldn't help but smile, one so wide it could shatter the windows.
"I love you, Alex."
