Naruto's fist connected with my jaw before anyone had time to think. It stung, my skin was tender from the transformation, and I thought I would be sent flying back. Somehow though, I barely moved.
I swiftly ducked and swung my leg, trying to trip Naru up, but when our skin connected it only caused a stomach-churning noise that I knew I'd never be able to forget. It felt like we were both so full of power that we had become rock-solid, like nothing on earth could hurt us no matter how hard it tried. We were of equal strength and skill in all accounts, somehow. Fighting, I figured, wasn't going to get us anywhere.
I felt my chest shake as the beast inside me chuckled. "This one's smart. She's figured out we're twins, in every sense of the word." I ran my tongue over my newly sprouted fangs. "I was sealed inside a fitting body. Though she never put it to much use."
Naru's chest swelled. "This human form I've taken is stronger than yours, but what does that matter? When we fight, their strength means nothing." He ducked his head. "Why are you babbling about such trivial things? What are you here for?"
I wanted to know that too.
She laughed again. "I wanted to reunite with my brother, of course!"
A slow smile crept upon Naru's lips. "Oh~? So we're doing that again, are we?"
"I don't see why not."
Sasuke found his voice. "Doing what? Doing what? You must be insane if you think any of us are going to let you do anything."
Itachi grabbed his shoulder. "Not really in a position to be making threats, Sasuke."
My head was forced to turn to look Sasuke dead in the eye. I could see every bead of sweat on his face, every tiny tremour his body made with the beating of his heart. I grinned, but it was so full of menace even I nearly shuddered.
"We're going to kill all of you, and rewrite history again~" she cooed. Naru cackled. "Best part is, we don't even really need to kill you. All we need is Kishimoto."
Everyone but Sasuke looked confused. "Kishimoto?"
Sasuke shook his head slowly. "The guy who writes those comics?"
"He writes your futures!"
It was meant to be a thought, but somehow the words had ripped through some crack the jinchurikii had not noticed, and I momentarily had control of my face again.
Naruto snapped his gaze back to me. "Hm?"
Almost as abruptly as it had come, I lost control once more. I was stunned.
"Did that girl really just get the best of you?" Naru hissed.
"After fourteen years dormant, I am not at my peak," I — she — snapped back.
Itachi looked to Sasuke. "A comic guy writes our futures?"
"Is that how Lucy knew so much?" Kiba blinked.
"That's how you knew about..." Itachi murmured, looking to me. He trailed off.
The jinchurikii roared. "I think I'll kill you all anyway, just for fun," she snarled.
Naru smirked. "Are you sure you can even control your vessel enough to do that?"
"Of course I can!" she barked. "See?"
Before I had the chance to catch up with her thoughts, I felt my arm — now equipped with razor sharp claws — lash out, and wish a sickening wet tear, slice someone.
Sasuke.
