"What?" I ask, in awe.
Aleah says nothing, she only cries into the phone. I don't know what to say. I'm just holding the phone to my ear with so many thoughts running through my head.
I suddenly hear a door creek behind me.
"Jae, are you coming back to bed-"
"Aleah, hold up a sec. I'm bouta throw on some clothes, real quick. Just stay on the phone." I tell Aleah before putting the phone on mute, going into the room and laying my phone on the dresser
"Keisha, I gotta' go." I say when I turn around to face her.
"Okay, I'll wait for you-"
"No, you gotta' go too!" I yell as I gather her things together before tossing them at her.
"...but-"
"No buts. Come on, man, get dressed!" I snap as I go to my closet and take out some Levi jeans, T-Shirt, and some Nike shoes. When I look back at Keisha I see that she isn't doing what I told her to do. She is just standing there, half naked, with her arms folded across her chest.
"Girl, didn't you hear what the fu'ck I just said?!" I yell as I put on my jeans.
"Why I gotta' leave?!" she snaps, rolling her neck.
I am so heated right now and I don't have time for this. I ignore her question before continuing to get dressed. When I finally get everything on I look up at Keisha to see her still standing in the same position. This just pisses me off even more.
"Put your damn clothes on, Keisha." I growl as I pick her shirt up and toss it at her again.
"No, how the hell you just gone..."
As she is rambling on about how messed up I'm doing her, her voice is fading away. All the noises around me grow quiet and my body tenses up. I'm so angry, I just feel like I'm about to explode. I feel my fists ball up and my nose flair, Keisha's annoying voice and disobedience has sent me into a rage.
I know that she has noticed me zoning out on her fussing at me because she gets all up in my face. She knows how I am, she knows better than this. I can't help myself, I'm so torn up inside and she has the nerve to throw a fit.
"...yo' bi'tch a'ss! Why you always running away from shyt, huh? You need to grow up-"
"Shut the fu'ck up!" I scream as I slap her dead across her face, sending her stumbling backwards.
"Bi'tch, don't act brand new. Don't act like you don't know me! I ain't changed!" I yell as I pick her shirt up and toss it at her again. "Now get your shyt together and get the hell out my house before I fu'ck you up!"
With tears and fear in her eyes, she puts her shirt and shoes on before hurrying out of the room. Moments later, I hear the front door slam shut.
"Fu'ck!" I yell as I run my hands through my dreads.
Standing alone in the room now, I feel a bit guilty, but it doesn't last long when I remember that I have Aleah on hold.
I grab my phone from the night stand, take it off of mute, and put it to my ear. I can hear stifling on the line so I know she hasn't hung up.
"Hello," I say as I leave the room and head for the front door.
"Yes," Aleah mumbles into the phone.
"I'm on my way, alright?" I say as I put on my jacket before grabbing my keys and leaving the house.
"Okay," She replies.
