Violet's pov:

I was touched. I was touched at how brave Samuel was in confronting Pete. I was shocked, but impressed when he left my brother speechless. No guy had ever done this to Peter. After what had happened, he was silent during the ride home. I was too afraid to reck the silence. Until he broke it off himself.

"I don't want you hanging around with that guy. He ticks me off somehow" said Pete, mumbling the last part. "He's just gonna stick around me for the next three days. After that, he won't interfere in my life ever again" I told him. "Besides, aren't you the one who always said that I should be protected" I added.

"I meant me. I should be the one Protecting you. You're my baby sister. I don't want people hurting you" he said in a soft tone. "Well you're not always gonna be with me aren't you. I mean you won't be with me at school, so Bryan's the only option you have. But he went to his tournament. So in the mean time, Samuel's taking his job at me for a while" I explained.

He glared at me then went silent and paid his attention back on the road. I looked away and had unintentionally let out a sigh of relief. It's a good thing he fell for it.

I'm not certain that Samuel won't approach me after these three days. I just have to make sure Pete won't see me with him. Who knows what he'll might do to him. I just hope that my life would go back to the way it was before. No drama. No boys.

The next day

I didn't feel like going to school today. I would have to approach Hayley and all my other friends to apologize for my tantrum the other day. I've sent each of them a private message and said that I was sorry, but I don't think that's the right thing to do. It makes me feel like I'm a coward, apologizing through messages... NO. I have to apologize to them face to face.

I have to.

They're my friends...

As I was about to leave the front porch, Pete opened the door and called out to me. "Vi! Want a lift? Since Bryan's outstation, I figured I should send you to school" said Peter at the door. I don't really want to talk to him at the moment. He'll just keep asking me about Samuel.

"Uh, that's fine. I'm gonna walk to school today" I smiled at him. "But you already walked yesterday" argued Peter. "So? That doesn't stop me from walking today you know" I huffed.

"I'm still driving you to school, you know" he protested, already walking out with his car keys in his hand. "Pete, you don't have to–" I tried stopping him. "No Vi. Let me just drive you, okay?"

"But Pete, I–"

"I don't think you should force her to get in that car" says a guy on the streets. I turned around to face him, and saw Samuel in his silver Chevrolet Malibu mid-size car.

"Samuel? What're you doing here?" I exclaimed, surprised to see him here. "I came to pick you up of course" he smiled charmingly at me.

He got out of his car and went around to open the passengers seat for me to enter. I was still shocked to see him here, so it took me a while to realize what just happened. In a blink of an eye, Peter was infront of me, with his right arm blocking me.

"She's not going anywhere with you" Peter said in a menacing way. "Oh but I think she is. You see, it is also my job to escort her to school and back. I'm just following orders" he shrugged with his arms crossed against his chest.

Peter still seems unconvinced. "Orders from who?" He asked. "Your cousin nextdoor" he pointed his thumb towards Bryan's house. "How do I know it's from Bryan?" Peter asked in an unconvinced tone.
