Burnt Eggs

A sudden burning smell filled my nose. "Oh no, the eggs are burning," I cried. Not another problem this morning, I inwardly groaned. I rushed to the smoking pan on the stove and grabbed it, forgetting cast iron pan's handles heat up too.

As soon as I remembered I almost threw the pan to the floor before I realized my hand wasn't hurting. "Mi Sun put the pan down, it's smoking!" Jae Eun yelped. I said nothing as I marveled at the painless sensation in my hand. Jae Eun pushed me aside and grabbed the pan from me with an oven mitt, pulling me out of my own world.

"What was that?" She cried, dumping the black egg in the trash and pouring cold water on the scalding pan. I looked at my hand. It was red, and a blister had begun to form at the base of my middle finger.

If the pan had been hot enough to burn my hand, why hadn't I felt it? "I-I don't know," I stuttered, looking up at Jae Eun. She had put the pan in the sink and now stood with a hand on her hip, looking like a demanding mother. "We should go to the doctor," She declared. "I'm worried,"

"I'm fine, trust me. My hand probably just fell asleep when I was on the ground," I replied. To tell the truth, I was worried too. I just didn't want to admit. I'm generally a laid back person, so if I tell Jae Eun I'm worried, she would definitely force me to go to the doctor.
