I woke up in a yellow room. A vision of my first few days in the hospital flashed through my head. I slowly came to before looking at my surroundings.
There were four people in the room. As my blurry vision cleared, I saw their faces. My parents, Jae Eun, and Jimin all sat in chairs by my bedside. Jae Eun held a familiar orange and white cat. Jimin's normal, wavy, golden halo of hair was flat and tired.
As soon as my eyes opened, everyone in their room jumped to their feet. I smiled weakly. "Hi," I croaked. My mom's eyes welled up with tears as she pulled me into a hug. "Um, what's wrong?" I said, lightly patting her back as she hugged me.
When she pulled away, she was smiling. So were my father, Jimin, and Jae Eun. "What's going on?" I said, confused. The glass door to the room slid open. It was the doctor. "Mi Sun, how are you feeling?" The pain in my stomach and head were both gone, and my back felt well. "Good," I said. "Well, we did a few examinations and found that you have a stomach ulcer. It's nothing too serious, but we will have you on medication for about eight weeks." I nodded, but I was still confused.
A stomach ulcer isn't a big enough deal to be in a hospital bed. "So why am I here?" I asked.
"As we were doing examinations for the ulcer, we decided it would be best to do an MRI, just to be sure the problem wasn't anything in your nerves. We have detected a very unusual development relating to your spinal cord tumor."
My breath caught. Before any assumptions could develop in my head, the doctor continued. "The tumor appears to have shrunken since your last visit here."
