explaining the idea of guardians

This is an idea I've been working on for about a month now owo

Guardians are human-sized animals who appear minutes after birth, they always have wings, and are usually mammals.
Only children who are fated to die a terrible death get guardians.
The guardians always protect the child from their any early deaths before age 10, after that, it becomes harder and some guardians die trying to protect the child
Most people with guardians have a disability that would make their death harder to avoid Ex: my character kat was born without her whole ear system, she wouldn't be able to hear danger, and without an inner ear, she would have no sense of balance and would be unable to run away.
Guardians NEVER outlive their child, their souls are connected.

When a guardian dies, their soul merges with the child's, the child looks and acts slightly more like the guardian, and, of their disability meant they were unable to use any body part, they would gain it from the guardian, again, I'm going to use kat as an example, when her guardian was murdered, she grew its cat-like ears and its tail, the ears were to help her hear, and the tail was for balance.

If a guardian dies, the child never receives unnecessary body parts, if they don't need horns, they won't get horns, if they don't need a tail, they don't get a tail.

If you have any questions, just send me a message or something
And of you want to use this for your own character, go ahead! Just give credit or something.
