We are the children of brown skinned women that have been oppressed for years
We are the warriors our mothers raised us to be
And when my mother looks at me through her beautiful chocolate eyes and says
"You are more than just brown"
I realize that
1. Because if the color of my skin I will have to work twice as hard as the White women around me.
2. The color of my skin does not resemble what is in my mind
And
3. I will always be more than just the color of my skin
