Grace's P.O.V

By now, the boys have left and Mikey still hasn't come out of his room. It's 10 in the evening, so Lacey's been asleep for about half a hour now.

"Mikey," I say gently as I knock on his door softly. No answer. "Michael, I know you're awake."

"No, I'm not," he retorts.

"Come one, open the door." I sigh. A few moments later, I hear the lock on his door turn and Mikey appears. He seems rather tired and distressed.

"What do you want, Grace?" His words come out as more of a sigh.

"To see if you're okay," I suggest.

"I'm fine."

"But, Mik-" he cuts me off.

"I said I'm fine. Now, is there anything else you need?" He snaps.

"I, uh, need some help gettin Lacey off the couch and into bed.." I trail off.

Michael grunts and pushes past me. He gently picks her up and carries her to my room. After all this time, we still haven't been able to afford a bigger place so Lace can have her own room, but I don't mind sharing. It's better than being alone.

I stand at the doorway while he sets her down and covers her. He's sure to kiss her forehead before turning to walk away. He stops in my proximity and sighs before looking up at me from the ground. We just stare into the other's eyes for a moment until he decides to kiss my cheek and head to his room.

"Goodnight, Michael."

He turns to look at me from his cracked door. "Night, Gracie."

"Gracie, wake up!" I groan at the loud noise before shoving a pillow over my face. "Grace, the boys are here and they're making breakfast."

"Which boys are making the breakfast, Lacey?" I tense at the thought of those hooligans burning my apartment building to the ground.

"Ashton and Calum," she answers.

"I'll be there in a minute."

Lacey finally leaves my side. My hand feels around me bedside table for my phone until I find it by something warm. I open my eyes and find a coffee mug with a note. I take a sip of coffee and open the paper up to show the writing.

Gracie, I'm sorry for treating you the way I did. It just wasn't a good day. Forgive me?
      Xx, Mikey

My lips reveal a soft smile as I take another sip. I set both the paper and mug down before reaching for my phone once more. The time reads 6:42 A.M. I feel eyes roll to the back of my head. I stand and pull shorts on and head down the hall.

"Who the hell thought it would be a good idea to wake me up this early?" I snarl.

"Surprise!" Their loud echoes cause me to wince. "We're going on a road trip!"

"Come again?" I ask.

"We're going on a road trip. You, me, Calum, Mikey, and Luke." Ashton grins.

"Excuse me, aren't you forgetting something?" I nod my head toward the girl on the couch watching cartoons.

"Actually, already taken care of." I quirk an eyebrow at Calum's statement. "My grandmother is happily watching Lacey while we're out of town."

"No." I say.

"What?" They wonder in unison.

"I can't. I have too much to do. Work, school, Lacey and all of her activities and responsibilities." I ramble.

"Grace," Mikey grips my shoulders, "stop. It's all figured out."

"And you're sure?" I breathe.

"Positive," Luke grins. I let out a breath of relief. "Now go get packed. We'll be gone for about four days."

I head to my room, unsure of what's happening and what to pack. Eventually, I tire of staring at the same clothes in my closet and end up throwing nearly everything in there. I then brush my teeth before packing it and my necessities. Lacey enters my room.

"Where ya goin'?" She questions and I shrug.

"Don't know yet."

"Am I going?"

"You're going to Cal's grandma's!" I exclaim happily, but she frowns. I sigh. "Look, Lace, I know you wanna go, but you're just a bit too young right now. I'll take you on one when you're sixteen, okay? I promise."

"You promise?" She smiles and I nod.

"Pinky," I laugh as we hook pinkies.

Before I'm aware of what's happening, four incredibly over energetic boys leap into my room.

"Lets go!" They shout before dragging me out of my room only to be greeted by Cal's grandmother for a split second before being thrown out of the door.

"At least tell me where we're going!" I whine from Ash's shoulder.

"No can do, Princess. It's a surprise."
