One Last Chance (Harmione Story)

Chapter 4: The Argument

*Harry's POV

I woke up the next morning, the sun was shining through the window and Ron was gone.

This was bad! He usualy took every chance he got of making a fuss just to wake me up. For him not to do so was not normal, it wasn't him. Something was off... i could feel it!

I got dressed as fat as I could and went downstairs. I got in the Great Hall and saw Hermione sitting next to Ginny, face buried in her hands and Ginny had a comforting hand on her back.

I sat in front of them - Have you seen Ron? - I asked.

Ginny took a glance at me for a second (her face said everything: I asked the wrong question!) and then turned back towards Hermione, who, after a bit looked upwards, looked at me, and it was clear something serious happened, she had been crying!

- What hapened?!

*Hermione's POV

I got up early, as usual, and I was in the common room rereading the transfiguration essay (which wasn't due until next week!) when I heard someone coming down from the dorms. It was with great surprise that I saw Ron on the stairs.

- To what honor do I owe the pleasure of this morning visit? - I said joking.

- we need to talk...

- Sure, what about?

- Us.

- What about us?

- What about us?! - he said, angrilly - How about you being with Harry all the time! You are getting farther away from me by the minute! All you seem to care about these days is him! Hanging around him doesn't seem to be a problem!

- Of course it's not a problem, my friend. And he is your friend too sooo... What are you shouting for?

- Hermione, drop the act! When did tou start cheating on me?!

- Ron! I'm not cheating on you. If that's why you're so upset you might as well stop it because you're seing things that aren't there.

- Don't you dare lie to me! How long?

- Ron snap out of it!

- It's not worth it lying anymore. You two got a lot closer these past few days, you aren't even interested in me anymore. You sit close to him and away from me everyday and your thoughts are going the same way!

- Ron, that's... That's nothing!

As soon as I said this shivers started going up and down my spine. I said those exact words to him last year, when we were on the hunt for the horcruxes. That night he ended up leaving me and Harry alone when we needed each other the most.

- Yeah! You keep teking yourself that, you filthy mudblood!!!

Rage took control of me. I didn't even think about what I did next. I took my wand out and yelled, furiously...

- STUPEFY!

Ron was hit by the spell before he could even touch his wand. When he was, he shot trough the air like an arrow and he hit Dean Tomas, who was getting out of the common room.

- Don't you dare come near me again! - I yelled at him, crying.

- Out of all the things he could've said... Anything! He could've said anything but that - I said, still crying. It was no secret that our relationship wekened through summer break but I thought that seeing him again would heal the wound not open it even more...

- Where is he now?! - Harry asked angrily.

- Don't know, don't care!

- You whant to know the truth! Right now, nor do I! But we have Potions and transfiguration this morning. If you're going you better wipe those tears and pull yoursef together. Slughorn and McGonagal know you too well. They'll start asking questions...

That day was a complete nightmare, keeping a straight face with Ron's words cheweing me from the inside. Luckily we had no classes besides those. After lunch, I headed straight upstairs. I fall on the couch, exausted and heartbroken, but thankfully, alone...

I sat there for what seemed like my hole life, not managing to do anything but cry. It was Harry...

He came near me and grabed a note from the table next to the couch, one that I didn't even realize was there.

- It's for you - he said

I grabed the note, opened the note and, when I finished reading it, I started crying, even more.

- He has no shame! - I managed to say.
