Just a quick note at the start of this chapter.
I want to thank you all for reading, commenting and voting on my story, it all means so much. I know I don't have nearly as much views, votes, etc... as some fanfics out there, some being much better than mine but that hasn't stopped you from liking this one. I'm writing this because the story hit 500 views just yesterday and I wasn't expecting it to reach that number in half a year, much less in a month. Okay I said it was short :) Now, on with the chapter...
*Harry's POV
I had no wish to get up. It was Sunday so, no classes but tomorrow there was a Quiditch match against Slytherin and, as such, we had to practise. When Ron and I finally got dressed Hermione was already waiting for us so we could go have breakfast together
- I was startingtrt to wonder if you would show up at all... look at the time! - She complained
- We overslept. We don't have your habits of waking up at 5 am everyday! - Ron joked.
- Just know that if you arrive late at the practise game it's your fault and your fault only...
- Yes mommy! We'll head down for breakfast straight away! - I joked too.
That was the end of that. The three of us headed for the Hall and after we ate it was time to play. When we arrived at the field we instantly knew something was wrong everyone had a worried look on their faces.
- What's wrong! - It was Ron who asked the million dollar question.
- Angelina fell off the stairs from the astronomy tower an broke her arm. It'll take her the rest of the day to recover and Madam Pomfrey. already told us that she's not going to let her leave the hospital until after the game to ensure she is at one hundred percent. That leaves us with a big problem: we are one chaser down and if we don't find a substitute until the game we'll be considered the losing team.
I looked around, worried, running my hands through my hair, which was now seating from the nerves. With the time we had there was only one suitable candidate...
- Hermione! - I called, yelling in the direction of the bench at which she sat.
She came running towards us - What is it? What's wrong?
- Hermione can you play? Angelina can't make to the game and e need a chaser.
- I can play a bit. I mean, I played with you a couple of times over the years at the Burrow. Why me?
- You know our tactics and we know how you play. Summing it up, you're the best substitute we can find with the time we have.
She thought about it for a second and then spoke again - So you want me to be a chaser so you can practise?
- That and you'll have to play tomorrow.
- Can't you find someone else?
- Not with the time we have.
-Okay, I'll do it. Who knows, I might even like it, playing Quiditch for my house.
While Hermione and I were having this talk Ron had ran over to the changing rooms and grabbed a broom for Hermione. He handed it to her and took off yelling - Come on move yourselves we're already late and we have a game to win tomorrow.
*Hermione's POV
I have to admit, the practise went rather well and enjoyed it; a lot. I had played before at the Burrow but this undoubtedly much better. I don't like flying that much, it's a bit scary to be honest, and flying skills could be better but they weren't terrible. For the time I was the best the team had.
The match had me worried sick but I had other things in mind, one of them being Harry asking me to meet him in the Room of Requirement after the practise. When I got there he was waiting for me.
- Okay can you wait here a bit I'm going to get something. - he said, turning around and starting to walk away.
He was gone for a bit and was starting to consider grabbing a book when he finally returned.
- I was waiting for your birthday to give you this but I guess it makes more sense that you have it now.
He reached behind a pile of chairs that stood nearby and took out a broom. A light brown, sleek one with dark twigs at the end and golden letters on the triangular tip, letters that read "Nimbus 2000".
- Harry, is this your o...
- My old broom, yes it is. - he interrupted.
- But I thought it was damaged beyond repair.
- It was, until I had the Elder wand. When I figured out it was mine I used it to repair my broom.
*Harry's POV
After I finished that sentence, she looked at me, clearly thinking about something. A moment passed until she final said what it was - What about your wand? Didn't you try to repair it too?
- That was the first thing that came to my mind but sadly it didn't work. I guess that the damage was too much, even for the Elder wand.
She looked at the broom once again, as if not believing I just gave it to her, not believing I just gave her my first broom. It was more useful to her than me now, I have the Firebolt now. Regardless, it meant a great deal to me as it was my first broom, the one on which I caught the Snitch that made my team win my first match; the broom carried a huge emotional value, so much I wouldn't just gift it to anyone. But Hermione wasn't just anyone...
*Hermione's POV
I knew that broom was very important to him, it meant a lot to him and, to give it to me, meant even more...
There was still something on my mind at the time, I was trying my hardest to hide it. I knew I could talk to Harry, it just wasn't the time to do so ''You just have to wait until tomorrow after the game, then you can talk to him. There's nothing he or anyone can do about it tonight and it'll just worry them''
- Hey, Hermione... Is everything alright - Harry asked interrupting my thoughts.
- Everything's just perfect - I replied quickly, trying to not let him notice anything. While doing so I mentally slapped myself, I can't let him notice I'm not at a hundred percent, not tonight. There was something in my mind about the game other than the game itself. - I'm just tired, I guess I'm not used to playing so seriously for so long. Good night Harry...
- Good night. - He answered, he too looked tired and went to his dorm without another word.
''Tomorrow is my first real game, I need to make it count'' I thought, completely forgetting about any worries I had...
Author's note
What's on Hermione's mind? All I will say is that you won't expect it because of what she's doing but try to guess anyway...
I don't have much to say so: I hope liked it and will come back for the next chapter, leave your suggestion, opinions and point out any mistakes you find in the comments, until then,
-Gomesss
