Surprise!

Starting in a dream this week as shown by the wibbly slanted writing but first let me tell you a story

Inky black. All I can see is the inky blackness, it likes to twist and bend. But it's not solid more like a gas. Through the gas, two red eyes appear, then four more than eight. Red flat lifeless eyes, like that of a beawolf. They all look at me, hungry. Before the last two emerge from the black. Human eyes. As red as the beawoolf's, but full of rage and hatred. From then an arm raises holding something, something bright.
I wake up to the sound of my scroll, ringing? But the ringtone is so bad. Tree beeps followed by two quicker high pitch beeps ending in one quick really high pitch beep before repeating.
I pick it up, Jaune is calling but it's like six thirty in the morning. I rub my eyes awake and answer it. "Hi Y/N-" Jaune starts but Nora screams over him "WAKE UP LAZY BUTT, get ready and meet us in the main hall, AND HURRY UP!" Am I still dreaming? Sadly I wasn't as I got up to have a shower, (cuz hygiene man) put on my clothes and particularly stumbled out of my room, I thought the shower would have woken me up but apparently not. I found I was greeted with another perfect amber sky, like yesterday. I feel I'll be seeing a lot of them. The school was quiet, only the older student that had some sort of mission to do were getting ready to go as I made my way to the hall. It had a lot of uses that hall, like a room for people to sleep, eat and now a place where my big surprise was being held. I got to the oversized doors and put my ear to it. Silence. I think anyone knew what was coming next. I pushed open the door and stepped inside.
"Surprise!" Everyone shouted as I entered, despite it not really being a surprise as they told me about it, even so, they did a good job decorating. At least three balloons hung from every corner with small glittery banners going between them, Yang and Ruby even held up a small banner between them with the word 'surprise' written on it in big block letters. Despite how obvious it was, it was still a nice surprise.
"Don't worry it's not just an amazing party" Yang said as if the laundry room incident never happened, "we also got something for you!" Ruby then said as I realised a small box on a table that everyone had stud around. "I think it would be best if you open it now," Ren said from one side of the table beside Nora and Yang. I didn't say a word and just walked over and picked it up "I would like you to know I wrapped it" Wice said the other side of the table beside Pyrrha and Blake. The box was about the size of a real thick A4 sheet of paper, like a picture frame or small book would fit inside. I opened the box and saw a sheet of paper with everyone's name on it and something beside it like, 'weapon and equipment' or 'study' or 'hand in hand'. I looked around at everyone, clueless as to what it meant.
"It a list of thing were going to help you with" Pyrrha then said "yeah Oz kind said to us privet that you could be a little, behind" Jaune said standing beside Nora "we said we would help you in what we think we're best at or what wasn't already taken, so for me it target practice" Blake said even she seemed less moody today, "When ever we have the time we will gladly assist you in your training" Ren said putting one hand behind his back and standing up straight.
I looked around at everyone just speechless until saying "thank you, I guess. I really don't know what to say" "you don't have to say anything" Ruby said "you could help us take down these balloons, we got to be out of here before everyone else get up for breakfast" Yang said, and so we spent the rest of the party going around to every corner and taking every banner and balloon down. "So which one you picking first," Jaune said to me while holding the ladder I was on to take down another set of balloons "what do you mean?" I asked "I mean on the list, what are you going to do" we had just been talking about his role 'rival' was because they couldn't think of anything else so having a rival to change myself agents was the best they could come up with. "I well when can I start, eh, picking," I said as I reached the floor with the last set of balloons this side of the room. "Well, now I suppose" I put the balloons down then taking out the sheet of paper, I look through the list of names and remember what I said about my equipment before I knew anyone here. Scanning through the list I find 'equipment' whit the name 'Ruby Rose' beside it.
"Well, I guess I'll go with Ruby," I say to Jaune "my stuff needs a bit of polish." "that great you should say it to Ruby now before you leave," Jaune says "uh but that means that I have to talk to people," I say in response "oh don't worry about it talking is the best thing about people. or, or at least that what my mom always said" Jaune said now looking away awkwardly "do I really have to?" I say looking over to where Ruby is currently taking down the last banner, before getting tangled up in it. "Just do it," Jaune says that I feel a pat on my back, well more a punch. "hey Y/N, did I hear you talking about my sister?" I fill with dread as I turn and see the yellow hair of Yang standing behind me "um yeah, hi Yang, eh I was just talking to Jaune about-" it is at this point that I see Jaune has left "about?" Yang says "about her helping me with my equipment." I say holding out the piece of paper, my only defence.
"well let's go talk to her then," Yang says as she begins dragging me over to where Ruby, Weiss, and blake are unravelling Ruby from her banner prison. "Hey, Ruby! Y/N has something he needs to talk to you!" Yang calls out, still dragging me by the arm behind her "I'm a bit, tangled, at the moment" Ruby said spinning on the spot while Weiss and Blake took off the banner "how did you even manage this?" Weiss asked, "I was very curious OKAY?!" Ruby said aa the last of the banner is removed "Ha, yes, freedom at last! Curse you evil banner! NEVER AGAIN WILL I FALL TO YOUR TEMPTATION!"
Yang released my arm and resorted to pushing me in the direction of Ruby. "Go on ask her" Yang prodded "alright jezz, eh, Ruby are you free later to help me with my equipment?" I hope Yang will stop pushing me now "yeah sure, we could start after breakfast if that okay with you?" Yang burst in again "aw look at you two," she says while putting her arm around Ruby pulling her into a... hug?
Ruby makes her best effete to escape but it is useless "Yang, no," Ruby looks to me for help, I can only respond by throwing my arm into the air and backing away a little. Ruby's silver eyes dart around the room looking for asylum, her eyes then rest on Blake "Blake! Some help please" Blake puts down one of the banners she was holding and turns to face Ruby, still in the clutches of Yang.
Blake sighs and with a slight smirk on her face says "let her go Yang" Yang looks up at Blake saying "but I'm her big sister, it's my job to embarrass her" Blake takes a moment "well ruby I tried" Ruby in a last ditched effort started to call out "WILL SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME" a second later Nora swings her hammer into Yang taking everyone by surprise as Yang releases Ruby before flying halfway across the room.
"Thanks Nora, so after breakfast?" Ruby says her back turned to the fight now happening between Nora and Yang, "yeah but shouldn't you stop them?" I say looking over Ruby as Yang hits Nora into a wall so hard the wall cracks letting some pieces of it fall to the ground "no, they'll stop eventually" Ruby says as she turns to watch the carnage unfold, she turns at a great time as Yang takes out Ren who has joined in, then getting flacked by Pyrrha. "you say that as if it is normal" I say as Pyrrha is cut off before she can land a strike on Yang by Blake. "we've known each other for two days now, at this point it is normal" Ruby says as Pyrrha manages to disarm Blake, unfortunately forgetting Weiss who uses her semblance to trap her legs in ice while Jaune uses this opening to... talk to Wiess? Come on Jaune think with your head, not your heart... [what did you think I was going to write?]
This fight is quickly brought to a close as a voice calls from the door behind us "what is going on in here?!" tuning around is see the familiar eight-pronged cape of Glinda Good Witch.
I immediately throw my hand I the air and walk to the side of the room saying, "I had no part in this." Putting a lot of emphasis on the no part.
After a quick few repair jobs by Glinda and a quick telling off Glinda finished by saying "Remember it is supposed to be a teacher's day off as well, so if any more incidences like this happen do not be surprised if you find me giving you enough work to do that it will busy for the rest of the year" with that she left as all the other students started to flood in. Breakfast time I guess.
I sit down with the rest and listen to the conversation everyone has with each other, what Ruby said was right, only two days and it's like they have known each other forever. I mainly stay out of the conversation and think about what Pyrrha said last night. One side effect of me staying alive is that any pain I feel Pyrrha and Ruby feel the same pain, but Pyrrha made it seem like it was worse for me. Such kindness. But I can't stop thinking about the possibility for other side effects. I'll have to keep an eye out for that.
Like that breakfast is over, and with a few people I help drag Nora way form the Pancakes and feeling how strong she is I am so glad I did not have to go up agents her in a fight last combat class.
I meet up with Ruby afterwards "hey ready to get to work?" Ruby says in her oddly cheery mood, "yeah just need to get my stuff out of my locker" as I begin walking. "so about last night" Ruby begins "Ruby before you say anything one thank you and two nothing ever happened" I say, "I have nothing else to say" Ruby says as we enter the locker room "so tell me everything okay between you and Queen cold" they were coming up with names for Weiss jurying breakfast and I never got to say that one "OH good one!" she says as we reach my locker "but yeah I team RWBY is back on track." She says as we start walking to the workshop "does that team name ever get annoying?" "yes, all the time" Ruby then slumps over as she continues to walk.
We get to the workshop, it large with different sections for almost anything, examples of weapons and glowing dust infused armour hand from the walls. There are already some older students working on their weapons and armour, some are even making custom rounds for their weapons. I go to talk to Ruby but she's already buzzy admiring everyone else's sword, spears and guns. I'll let her be for the moment, anyway I need to get set up first.
I take up a free bench and start to lay my stuff out, two blunt twin swords that combined into a bow, one studded leather chest plate, one lovely shiny spinal guard, one harness/ scabbard and one quiver full of standard arrows. The last piece of my former life. Training mainly by myself, outside my little one-room cottage waiting for her to come back and tell me all about her mission and how she will be gone again soon. "So that all your stuff?" Ruby says as she returns from her adventure "yep sure is, sorry there's no moving parts" I say remembering Ruby's intricate scythe "well crimson rose took me a long time to make and my uncle made one before me" Ruby says trying to be humble about it "well anyway, I think we should do the basics first" I say going back to my equipment "the two swords need sharpening and the straps on my chest plate need to be replaced, probably need to make them a bit bigger while we're at it" I stop to see Ruby pick up my spinal guard "ew what's this?" She says turning it over to look at both sides "careful with that, it's probably the most expensive item I have here" Ruby then quickly but carefully puts it down and puts her hand behind her back "I do not want to be responsible for that, that em... what did you say it was?" I pick it up to admire it one more "it's a spinal guard my mom gave to me out of the blue one day, some atlas tec," I say putting it back down "did she ever tell you why?" Ruby says unaware of the touchy subject she had just rammed straight into "no she never got the chance to" I say trying my best not to let everything slip "well next time you see her, maybe you can ask her?" She says "yeah maybe I will" I take one of swords and head to the grindstone and begin my work.
An hour or two passes and me and Ruby are almost finished doing all the basic stuff "well I think we it a day there" Ruby says as she pans me some more polish for my spinal guard, I look over at the newly sharpened swords and cleaned up chest plate "yeah, I think your right" it wouldn't have taken so long to do if we knew where all the materials where. "Still I was hoping we could  try upgrade this thing," I say gesturing with the rag I'm using for polishing to my swords that are currently joint together on the workbench "what you haven't named it... them... the swords?" Rwby say obviously surprised "tried but no name stuck" (look in the comments) I say thinking of the number of names I tried. "Well I guess we'll try upgrading g it next time," Ruby says as she sits down opposite me and let's out a yawn "man, how early were you up?" I say as Ruby rubs her eyes trying to stay awake "it not that it's the night sleep I had" she says "yeah I know what you mean, this morning I was practically sleepwalking out my door" I say as Ruby Yawns gain even louder "well I don't think the coffee Weiss gave me last night help, still I thought I would have been fine" Ruby says "here I get you some water or something it should help" I say standing up and putting my swords into my scabbard "well they fit, anyway I'll be back in a second." I leave the room and start walking down the hall to where I think a water cooler is.
On my way back I hear a few lads laughing at something, from the sound of it I seem to be team CRDL, I don't pay much attention to it at first but the. Something catches my ear, a high picked voice calling "Hey give it back!" I drop the plastic cup I was holding and run toward the noise, there only one person with a voice that high, Ruby's.
I turn the corner to see all of team CRDL in the hall, in a circle around Ruby, Cardin seems to have Ruby's cape and is holding it above her out of her reach "haha look at her haha guess you should have grown up a bit before coming to the big school now should you Ruby" he says as Ruby try to reach up to the cape. "I'll have to do something," I think to myself "but I don't think I can take on all four at one, but if I can at least get Ruby out of there she can get help. Uh why do I have to be the nice guy' my last thought before I go up behind Cardin and put one of my swords to his throat "so is this a privet party or can anyone join" I say looking to the other three "it was privet, but it looks like you came at the right time!" Cardin says as he grabs my arm and threw me over his shoulder knowing me it Ruby a bit before I can find my footing "Y/N they came in and they took-" "you can tell him all about it later right now we're going to have a little fun" Cardin interrupt dropping the cape to the grown as he cracks his knuckles, seeing the cape is free I pick it up and hand it to Ruby who put it on "you okay?" I ask "Yeah but-" "when I make the opening I want you run," I say trying not to let the others her me "look fellas I think there's been just a big mista-" quickly I lash out at Sky or was it Dove? Either way, I managed to take out his legs from under him before the others jump me "time to go Ruby" I say, Ruby nods and in a bust of rose petals fly down the hallway and out of sight.
"Oh your going to pay for that" Cardin says as Sky and Dove hold me up agents the wall, "this one's going to hurt," Cardin says as he punches me in the face, I feel my aura protect me but even then the sting of his fist stays behind. "So lefty or righty you choose" he says as he hold both fists up to me "oh can you use the the right one I think I know what you use your left for-" another fist goes into my stomach again my aura protects me "anything else funny to say" Cardin says as he grabs my shirt "yeah how come you were named after a cardigan?" There a pause before three more punches fly all hitting me in the stomach, I sorry Ruby and Pyrrha "so now you've got you giggles out how about this, any last words" he says as he takes a few steps back "my last word are... my on liner get so much better after some head trauma" Cardin winds up for his final punch, I can only look on at my impending dome at the hands of a cardigan. Who would have known?
I'm all set for it when I hear "what the hell are you guys doing?" I look across to see an older student with sunglasses on and a fancy hat, holding some type of handbag along with the rest of her team a girl with bunny ears, a boy with a sword the size of me and another boy wearing far too much orange, just far too much. "Nothing's happening just leave us be for a bit will ya" Russel says "I'm sorry I highly doubt that" she says "and what about you dear, is nothing happening" she says looking at me "oh nothing but you friendly four on one beat'em up, no wait make that tree on one Russel hasn't really done anything" the tall one with the big sword steps forward "allow me to even the odds" but he's stopped by the girl with the shades "no I think I'm going to enjoy this" she says as she starts walking towards us. Russel immediately charges at her but with a simple flick of the wrist gets batted head first into the wall. Cardin seeing this drags the two guys off of me and shoves them towards her, leaving me to slump to the floor. Dove and Sky both try to attack at the same time but in a split second both of them are on the ground out cold, finally Cardin raises fists and tries to throw a few her way, she back steps the first few before ducking the last one, letting Cardin go past her then landing a solid kick to his back. With a loud snapping sound, the kick lands sending Cardin down to the girl's team when the large one catches him "light out" he says before slamming him into the ground.
"Oh, I think I might have broken his back," the girl says as Cardin curls up into a ball on the floor letting out a few moans of pain "so sweetly what do you say?" She talks in a lower voice than anyone else I really know here and by the look of her clothing she's very wealthy, I go to say thank you before I'm cut off by a very familiar voice at this stage "Coco, we appreciate the assistance but in situations like these we rather you get a teacher rather, than beating up our students" I look back to see Glinda with Ruby just behind her "of course miss but as I was walking past them to get you, when they attacked me" she's not wrong...  she's just not totally accurate.
At this Ruby comes rushing up to me "oh my god, are you alright?" I look up to her and say "only some internal bleeding that's all.. what you didn't feel any of that?" Ruby looks at me totally confused "what, no!?" I nod "yep that must be the head trauma talking," I say, I'll have to check with Pyrrha just to be sure "did you get your spinal guard back?" Ruby says "wait, what?" I say looking over to where Cardin is lying to see Coco holding the broken pieces of my spinal guard "I won't have to pay for this, will I?" She says as some pieces fall to the floor "well... that sucks"
