The City

welcome back to part, twelve? I could check but eh lazy. anyway hope you enjoy but first,

let me tell you a story.

Light graced the top of the hilltops as the sun crept over and into the city below me. Only the sound of the morning breeze and the crashing of the waterfall could be heard as the stars in the sky vanished from sight "Hey!" I hear Ruby call out from behind me "so how come you're up so early?" She says climbing over the rocks so she can get to where I'm sitting "I could say the same to you!" I call back, "I can't sleep," she says "not after Weiss made me coffee... it was like a cup of espresso shots," she says as she sits down beside me "why did you drink it then?" Good to see Weiss took my advice, sort of, "I don't know!" Ruby screeches while surging with her palms of her hands, face up and out flat. There's a few moments silence with only the sound of the waterfall, "so, why are you up here so early" Ruby finally asks "I just, never went to sleep, think I did enough of that to last a lifetime" the sun had now risen just up over the mountains illuminating the city below, you could even see people start to wake up in some places. "Last day off before the real work begins" I say watching the city "what do you plan on doing" Ruby says "I finally going to have a look around that city" I look down on the city I haven't visited in who knows how long and look at all the places I plan on going, this moment is then broken by the sound of my stomach rumbling "oh yeah, I forgot to have dinner yesterday"

*time skip*

"We will have to get the airship at eleven if you want to go galivanting around the city all day," Weiss says as we walk out of the main hall "Jeez what is your problem, Weiss?" Yang says to her "we just want to go around some shops and pick up some stuff" Weiss look away in protest, "Yeah! like some cool new upgrades!" Ruby says drooling at the thought of new weapon parts "yeah Ruby... or just, clothes" Yang says while Ruby wipes away the drool from her mouth "yeah or that..." I don't think Ruby is as much into her appearance as she is her crescent rose "well I still don't think we should be wasting valuable study time on shopping," since when has she needed to study, she corrects the teacher and we've only started! "Uh, why does everything just has to be about you" Blake says, closing over a book she was reading. "Hey did I hear you guys were going into the city?" Jaune says as he walks up with the rest to team JNPR, "Where were all of you! We looked, everywhere!" Ruby roars jumping up out of her chair, "we were in our room" Jaune says "I did not think of that," Ruby says and sits back down. "Yeah we were about to go but, someone thinks we shouldn't go" Yang says glancing over a Weiss "well I think it a great idea" Jaune says "I still think we should study instead" Weiss adds "yeah and that why I'm not going... because I should study... eh heh heh..." Jaune as scratching his head. Wait a second... Jaune has a thing for WEISS! HOW DID I NOT SEE THIS! "Well I sure would like to visit Vale again" Pyrrha says "Oh can we go, can we go, can we Ren please" Nora says to Ren and only Ren, I don't think we will be talking that much without Ren involved. "Yes Nora, we can go" Ren reply as more life drains from his eyes "YAY! oooohhh I wonder what there pancakes are like!" I may never understand Nora and the way she is. "Well I guess that just leave us, snow angel" I see the dread consume Weiss's face "oh no I'm not staying here with him," she says as she gets up and storms out "wait! Where are you going!? What about our study!" Jaune reaches an arm out to Weiss in desperation, only to let it flop lifeless, to his side "aw man" he mutters to himself " that was kind of, sad "well I guess we're going then" I say now that everyone is in agreement, "yeah lets get going already" Yang says. II takes some time of people running back and forth getting stuff from there rooms like backpacks and money but eventually we all get onto the half-eleven airship after we missed the eleven o'clock one which totally wasn't my fault.
After making it to the city it's clear everyone wants to do there own thing, like Yang wanting clothes, Ruby wanting weapon parts, Blake wanting books and Nora wanting pancakes so we decide to meet back at the airship in two hours. Some of the gang asks me what I'm going to do and I just reply with "I'm just going to wonder" because I don't exactly have any money to spend plus I've never seen vale, well not the main city anyway, "are you sure you wouldn't like to come with us Y/N?" Pyrrha asks "yeah I just want to explore, I'll only hold you up anyway," I say Pyrrha smiles and catches up with everyone else.
The city is bigger than I expected, well really I didn't know what to expect. It's busy too, everywhere you go it's a festival of different people and cultures. The best part tho is all the shops and places to eat, uhh I want it all, among all the shops and people there an eerie feeling about it and the same conversation is passed between person to person "did you hear about the white fang attack?" And "there was another robbery down the street there" seen now everybody's happy with what they got, but who is this white fang? Well with a name like white fang they don't sound too friendly.
As I wonder further from the town center the city changes from diverse and new to old and similar billings and shops, one of them even has a smashed window, it looks to be a dust shop of some sort but the old man that runs it seem nice he even waves at me as I go by. Rounding a corner it's clear in getting to the edge of the city and more in to warehouse and housing estates "probably best to head back now" I think to myself as I turn around and start heading down a back alleyway, I quickly realise my mistake but it's a little too late "hands in the air" I hear a deep cam voice tell me as I feel something rested on my shoulder. I comply. "Good now I want you to take all the dust you have, and drop it" the voice says to me as I feel the chill of cold steel agents my neck "but I don't have any" I say to the voice behind me, I hear some muttering along the lines of "what the boss says if he don't have no dust?" It then I know is the two other voices behind me "well all your money. Drop it!" I don't see this ending without a fight "I have none of that ether" I have to act quickly while they're not expecting it. When the murmuring stops about what to do with me some thin along the line of "wait, what if he's just lying to us?" I ready my escape, hoping not to end up in the same situation as the last time I took on a group of people. I feel the adrenaline start to kick in now as my heart stars to knock on my rib cage like it's trying to force it's way out, I look at the path ahead of me, it's a simple dash back into civilisation. Even my hands start to shake with anticipation, then I hear something "ha, look his hand are shaking, to bad we going to have to send you back to your mommy" everything goes silent apart from a few birds singing then something in me just snaps, as my body starts to move of its own volition. First I grab the blade of the sword resting on my shoulder, I twist the red blade around and then force the side of it into the suit of this well-dressed man and shove him agents the wall of the alleyway I go to turn my attention to the next man but something catches my eye. Even tho I've let go of the sword the man still struggles agents it like there an invisible force pushing agents it, I'm my moment of contemplation the next man land a punch to my jaw, I feel the solid metal of a brass knuckles connect as I stumble back but the pain spreads out across my body, clenching a fist I feel as the pain focus in my hand, I give an uppercut to the second man as the pain is pushed back into his jaw. I look at the third man that has already started to run, but I he won't get away, I sprint after him and suddenly fly straight past him and stop at the entrance of the alleyway. The man skids to a stop in front of me as I feel an immense burst in power, like my favourite colour with the intensity of the sun surround me, I put it all into a punch that sinks into his gut before he flys off landing at the other end of the alleyway. I stand there for a few second listing to the voices of passers by that stop and stair then I collapse to the ground feeling so nauseous I could puke, people rush over to me and help me to my feet, asking all sorts of questions but the only thing I do is take out my Scroop and call the last number that rang me as I start to fail into unconsciousness waking up again to see the gang rushing down the street as I'm surrounded by more and more people, then I wake up in Ozpin's office at the top of Beacon "well I guess nows as good a time as any to have that talk".
I look around the room to see Ozpin staring out the window on yet another amber sky "I went unconsciousness again then" I say to him "surprisingly you seamed to be contusions the enter time it took for you to get here" he says still staring intently out into the sky like he isn't even there "I heard all about your fight in that allyeway" he says "how a boy managed to take down three armed men with extreme speed, strength and even mind powers to make a sword go back on its user" he says "what happening to me Ozpin" I say, he hasn't looked away from the window once, "something unforseen," he says and then goes silent. I don't say a word, just wait not knowing what to expect. "You really are unique student Y/N" he now turns to me "you found the true power of your semblance," he says "what? what do you mean true power?" I ask "I bleve you are able to use the semblances of others as your own, as it sounds like you did that with Pyrrha polarity" neat trick "but this, as your classmates have made me aware, has some drawbacks" Pyrrha... "I bleve you have talked about one of these with Pyrrha but, you may not be aware of is the range of this transfer and prolonged exposure. You see as Pyrrha told me, she felt the force of a blow you took in train and Ruby felt the same, then when you took multiple blows, with Ruby the closest at the time, she didn't feel a thing, so we know there is some range to this sharing of aura. The next thing is when Ruby spent a long time with you by herself, after a while she said she felt quite tired then after you left she felt fine again, so having as many people about is advised from now on." Okay that a lot (if you have any questions I do my best to explaie) "but the one thing I still can't explain is who it chooses who to work with" he walked over to his desk and sits down "so tell me about how was Yang suddenly was chosen as one of the luck few" he rests his arms on the desk and interlocks his finders paying full attention, "I don't really know she just came over to say thanks for helping Ruby and then it just happened, I didn't even know what was happening until Yang told me." I say "hmm, so you had no control over this" Oz says "well no," Oz turns in his chair to stare out the window again "this is most concerning." He stops "well Y/N you certainly had a long few days, but classes do start up again tomorrow so I think you should get an early night sleep" what are you hiding Oz "thank you, Professor" I make my way to the elevator again, "and Y/N." I turn around to see a long white box on the table "it took some over time from some of our staff, so be sure to thank them" I nod and gracefully take the box and head back downstairs, why do I have the weirdest feeling of deja vu?

Later on, I sit on my bed staring at the box, but I don't know why? I should be happy or something but instead, I just sit there looking at it, maybe I'm scared of the changes that could have happened to it. No that's dumb. Was it something about today? "Like the whole, you have your semblence now have fun or the part where you got (almost) mugged". Iminturupted by a knock at the door, I get up to open it, but stop to look at the box, there are another few knocks, I put the box underneath my bed and answer the door. "hey," it's Jaune, he looks like he was about to go to bed, "oh hey Jaune, need something?" I ask, opening the door to let him in. "I just wanted to see how you were doing, you did give us all quite the scare... again" Jaune let's out a small nervous laugh before sitting down on a chair. "yeah sorry about that," next time I'll try not get robbed "so eh, what were you doing?" Jaune asks "oh nothing really, just thinking," I say sitting down on my bed. "about what?" Jaune says "just about today and what Oz told me" I say "hold on your not getting expelled for getting in that fight, are you? No no no this can't be, you're one of my best friends here! I know I don't have that much but that's why I need all the friends I can get" Jaune start to weep uncontrollably into his hands. I thought he was here to check on me, "hey Jaune, I was just going to say it's about my aura" Jaune looks up at me with a look of horror on his face, "no, your dieing aren't you? YOU'RE TO YOUNG TO DIE!" he goes back to sobbing "Jaune Oz was just talking about how we still have no clue how people are chosen because I don't get to." Jaune snaps out of his sobbing and after a couple of sniffles says "yeah that make more sense." the amount of times I wanted to roll my eyes is unbearable, but at least I know he cares "Oh what if it the unbreakable bond of, friendship" Jaune suggests, "maybe but why are you chosen then, I mean, I am one of you're best friends." I point out. That could explain what happened with Yang tho, still, it not consistent. "oh yeah I guess there more to it than that." Jaune says "well I think we should sleep on it and come up with some conclusions later" I get up and open the door for Jaune, Who leaves calling back "goodnight" as he leaves "goodnight Jaune" I say closing the door and getting into bed only to remember just as I'm about to fall asleep, I have classes tomorrow.

so now I think the next chapter will take place just before or just after the whole Jaune's being bullied story. I'm not too sure but I know I spent like, a year of writing this "book" only to go through like a week in the story, if even that. Anyway, hope to god there weren't as many mistakes as some of the other chapters (if there are sorry) and with that, I'll talk to you in the next chapter
