5 Months Ago, Rolanz, Yalts’ Harbor

Smoke rose around her, as Kayly walked into the room full of towering shadows. Strangers screamed around her, betting with the devil. She wasn’t cut out for this, she needed to get out. Peering around, she saw that no one was there. Suddenly a strong arm grabbed her, and she was dragged away to doom. She knew that no one would take her into their home, she wasn’t built for dusting and cleaning, she was a worker. Eventually she would be at the front of the line, being poked and pushed. Before she got up there she was taken into another room.

“This girl should get the job done,” a man said standing behind a fog of smoke. Kayly coughed at the taste of the air. “Hook her up in the trunk.” The man slide away, but before he was off he turned around and grinned. Where did she see him before? That face, that smile, those stained teeth, the warmth of his hands. Marlin, the man who ripped her heart out, the man to blame for her being in the slave trade, it had to be him.
