1 Month Ago, Rolanz, the Revival
London had told only two people about what he had learned, they were Dusty and Kayla. He’d told Dusty because if she didn’t know what was going on, she could be used against him later on. She’d hate herself for that if she’d found out. He told Kayla because he knew that her hate for the government was more than her fear of it.
He was now waiting for Kayla. Dusty was sitting next to him. Nat was behind the bar, only looking at him every now and then. She walked over and gave him a mug full of something. He looked at her then the mug. He had absolutely no idea what was in it.
“For the nerves, you look like you could use it.” She said reading his face.
“What’s in it?”
“Don’t ask, and chug it down. Try not to mind the taste.” She said going back to taking orders from other costumers.
He took a good sized sip of the green tinted sludge. The second it touched his tongue he had to urge to spit the vile tasting substance out. He didn’t, but he wanted to. He quickly chugged down the rest, as he’d been told to. “Oh that is something else.” He gasped, face scrunched up tightly.
Dusty’s face looked exactly the same. She couldn’t believe he had drunk the whole mug. “That is just completely and utterly disgusting!”
“You weren’t the one drinking it.” He said blinking, trying to keep it down. “Where is Kayla?”
“She should be here soon. She said she was going to bring someone with her. She said something about trusting him and what not.” Dusty said putting aside the past subject.
They waited another ten minutes before she entered the salon. The person she was with had a rap around their face, and was wearing loose clothes, but it was obviously a male.
She walked over with him. “Hey.” She said normally.
“Hey, Kayla.” Dusty said. She turned back to the bar. “Nat can we use the back?”
“Yeah.” The bar tender said unlocking the door and opening the bar for them.
The group huddled into the room, everyone finding a seat at the table.
“Who is your friend?” Landon asked watching the masked figure carefully.
The group looked at him. He sat there for a second before unwrapping the cloth concealing his face. Black hair fell out and Landon gasped, leaving Dusty confused.
Kayla was quick to explain. “I know he’s a guest of the government, but he doesn’t want to be part of it!”
“What makes you think that?” Landon asked skeptical.
Kayla looked like she was about to say something, but Joylon beat her to it. “I knew about the plot before she tried telling me. If I really was in support of Dawson Head and his band of greedy bandits do you really think that she would still be alive?”
Landon leaned forward, getting his face up close with Joylon. “How do we know that you aren’t just doing this as part of Dawson’s plan?”
“Aw Landie, do you not trust me?” Joylon asked using a cute voice, but keeping his face serious. “Please if it makes you feel any better, I’ll even let you do something.” Landon leaned back into his chair. “The Nami king is also part of this plot.”
“That gives us even less reason to trust you.”
Dusty had to cut in. “Who is this guy anyways?”
Landon looked at the blonde sitting to his right. “He is the prince of Nami, Joylon Qing.” His line of vision went back to the Prince.
Dusty went wide eyed. “Are you serious?” She was now standing.
Kayla looked down. Joylon crossed his arms. “Yes indeed, that is who I am. But knowing that you should also know that I do not support my father. I never wanted the throne, it’s too much work. So is this whole plot that the Rolanz government has created.”
“That doesn’t mean we can trust you.” Landon said, stone faced.
Joylon snickered.
Kayla finally stepped in. “But I trust him, and you trust me. Shouldn’t that be enough?”
Landon looked from Kayla, to Joylon, then back to Kayla, and finally at Dusty. She was sitting back down now, but her blue eyes were glued to his. They were understanding. They wanted to trust this person. He didn’t feel like he had much choice after looking into her eyes. He sighed, “Fine, I’ll trust you for now.”
“I’ll do all I can to help.” Joylon said looking unnaturally sober.
“I guess I’ll just have to take your word for it.”
